how to clean very dirty/sandy binoculars

Thanks everyone! For some reason I wasn't being notified of folks replying to my thread. I gently rinsed several time removed eyepieces and rinsed again several times. Got everything in a lot better shape than I'd hoped. I think I'm in good shape. I don't have time to get them to zeis in...

What's your go to water bottle

48 oz widemouth nalgene. Pretty bombproof and makes a great hot water bottle for the sleeping bag if needed. If I need more water I complement with a Gatorade bottle.

Airline Travel Bag, What do you use?

I have used the Taku 5500 and it worked well. I also have a big old Gander Mt duffel I use and has always worked well and both can fit my big SO pack inside. For my AK trips I'm usually trying to bring as much as possible (prepare a lot of our own food and purchased food selection and price...

Rifle carrier for Seek Outside pack

Generally its not in the way, and that's how its meant to ride. It makes it so you can bring the rifle to bear pretty much instantly. You can adjust the "tilt" to have the rifle is more vertical. You can also move the top strap up to the top of your frame and have it out of the way if you...

    Flintlock

Myself and a couple friends have TVM's, I'd give them a look as well. Ours are all the Early Virginian style.

how to clean very dirty/sandy binoculars

Was on a canoe/kayak summer trip and a friend misplaced his dog. I gave him my zeiss conquests to help his search as he wandered back upstream. Good news is the dog was found the next day. Bad news is when he gave up the search and got into a kayak to catch up with us at camp he put them in...

Alaska trip Advice - sleeping bag

I'm a very happy owner of a WM Antelope MF. The only slight concern I might have would be with the Gore version. I've heard for some folks it doesn't breath well enough. That said I have no direct experience with it. I will say the WM MF is extremely weather resistant and I've never had any...

I'm interested to hear what's up. Enjoy their packs and tipis and stoves - and plan to continue to be a customer in the future.

    2 1/2 inch 12 gauge shells

I have the roller already as I had previously made some black powder reloads for a damascus hammer Parker I had long ago. I'll probably take you up on your gracious offer. The biggest thing holding me back on the reloader is just having a solid lowish pressure 1 once recipe and knowing the...

    2 1/2 inch 12 gauge shells

I picked up a nice old london boxlock this spring and am hoping to chase some birds with it this fall. The downside is it has 2 1/2" chambers (the upside is it weighs 6lb, 2 oz). Its in proof at 1 1/8 ounce and would be planning on shooing 1 ounce loads. I'd hoped to buy a case of shells for...

    GPS collar and unit advice

One feature I like on the 200/300 over the 550 is that you can set up an electronic perimeter where you can set up an alert if the dog leaves that area, or give you an alert if the dog gets "x" far away from you. I don't think you can do that with the 550 (it would be nice if the garmin phone...

    New Rifle-First Groups-Not Good

I'd check on the screw torques if you are only 10% confident they are to spec! :) Sorry - sure that was a typo on your part. Tough call, my first guess's would have been the actions screws or the mount (which you've checked). Have you tried the scope on a different rifle just to rule that out?

    Tripod for western hunting?

Fwiw I just use available terrain (tree, rock, etc.), pack or walking stick as available or as time permits. But my longest shot in 40 years of western hunting has been inside of 400 yards. I'm more of the philosophy of know where your rifle shoots to moderate range and be confident and well...

    Patagonia now selling venison

I guess I see an endless supply of lionfish and florida pythons. If they pivot to farming them rather than help manage/remove the invasive....well they are no longer helping to manage the invasive and the whole idea is moot.

I think utilizing a problem invasive and creating a market for their harvest is a pretty cool idea. Could play well is the backpacking freeze dried market!

Should you carry a firearm while bowhunting in Wyoming

IMO the only concern (other than humans) is grizzly in NW WY. They are much more aggressive in my experience than browns/grizzly in AK. I've had several aggressive bear experiences west of Cody and zero with with run in's in AK.

    Best chair for glassing?

I enjoy the Hillsound BTR, the higher version. Very different than the lounge style sling chair - not something you're going to take a nap it. You are higher up and leaning forward. Not better than those but quite different if low and leaning back isn't what you want.
