Anyone use a monopod for a small spotting scope

Depends what your trying to do with it, are you just wanting to take a quick peak at something after having already found it with binos or are you planning on viewing through the spotter for hours trying to find game? This past weekend I had my buddies 15’s mounted to my feisol 3372 tripod. I...

    Leupold VX-6HD 4-24x52 question

It’s a little overwelming to try and wrap your head around mils or moa from reading on the internet. It’s way easier when you’ve got someone walking you through it at the range. I don’t like having to rely on ordering the correct dial that’s going to work for all the different circumstances...

    Leupold VX-6HD 4-24x52 question

Are you set on a CDS versus a mil or moa based dial? I have no experience with the vx-6 but I absolutely love my Mark5. Might be worth having a look at it. I have a 20 moa rail under mine and I have enough elevation to take my creedmoor beyond 1700 yards. Here’s my issue with the CDS...

Feeling Comfortable Hunting at 600yds and In

I use an app called Mil Dot Ballistics. It works for me but they’ll all work assuming you manually adjust all the variables including BC. You can definitely get by with one of the free ones. Do a little research on density altitude. It accounts for elevation, pressure, temperature and...

I found my LRHS on the classifieds here for $750 basically new in box. You’ll quickly fall in love with that little scope and it’s worth it to save up for it. I don’t have any first hand experience with SWFA’s. Pick which rifle you can get ammo for cheapest. The 243’s will burn their barrels...

That's my match rifle so it's got the mini chassis that Manner's gets from Badger I believe. Uses AICS mags, great for matches but to heavy in my opinion for hunting. My match rifle now is sitting right about 14 pounds which is actually quite light for most guys serious in the match game.

    Elk rifle question

Wind drift on a 308 is terrible, ignoring the velocity/energy issues on game at 700ish, the wind drift alone I feel makes it a poor choice for those ranges. Basically you're more likely to gut shoot or flat out miss the animal. I would also strongly advise against an AR platform for mountain...

Oh heck yeah, be careful, it's addicting! Here's the original T3X action I bought that's since been converted to a full blown match rifle. Stuck with the Creedmoor through last season but I'm making the switch to a 6x47 lapua for next year.

    6.5 PRC On Elk

Ryan, what BC are you using to get your dope to line up with the 147? I'm pushing them at 2850 out of a 6.5x55 wildcat and had to bump it up to .715 G1 to get it to line up. Pretty impressive bullet for sure.

Because pics are always fun... That's my original 6.5 Creedmoor barrel on a T3 action I got from eurooptic on closeout but my smith reamed it out to a 6.5x55 wildcat. Basically a Creedmoor with 10 more grains of powder pushing the 147 ELD-M's at 2850. Same 3-12 LRHS scope and I have the...

I was in your boat at the end of last season after watching a nice bull at 650 for 30 mins. My goal was similar to yours. With advice of those here, I started with a Tikka T3X lite in 6.5 Creed and a Bushnell LRHS 3-12. I quickly made friends with a number of guys in the long range match game...

    Day Six Arrows

Ordered a dozen of these yesterday. I emailed them yesterday morning asking for suggestion on spine/outserts. Bryan literally emailed back in 5 minutes! On a Sunday! Anyways my brother came up here to Montana last week to hunt elk. I called a bull in to him and he got a good shot opportunity at...

    Rangefinder comparison?

I won a Nikon black rangex 4k or whatever they're call at a match a few weeks ago. I'm really happy with it. I bought a Sig 2200 MR earlier this year but I haven't been happy with the hue of the glass, looks really blue to me. Ranging it did fine. I've been hunting with it so far this season...

    Best budget long range scopes

Gonna have a pretty tough time beating this for the money, even if you buy used. I think they might have sold out of the scope on its own and you have to buy the one that comes with a MUT multi tool for $800 I believe.

    Tikka ring and base question?

I've got no experience with that scope but I recently purchased a T3X Lite SS in 6.5 CM. Put an LRHS 3-12 on it with Nightforce ultralight rings and a mountain tactical 20 moa rail. I'm at 8.4 mils to 1000 with a slowish load pushing 143 ELD-X's. The barrel is very accurate shooting about .4 MOA...

Nosler RDF - Anyone give these a go yet?

Thanks for the info guys. I’ve taken a bunch of guys advise and been putting together my setup. I have a Tikka CTR on the way. I bought a scope off the classifieds here (LRHS 3-12). Picked up some nightforce rings from another classified as well as 400 once fired norma brass to start with. The...

Nosler RDF - Anyone give these a go yet?

How you doing fellas, not sure if I've missed it but has anyone given these a go yet? RDF Bullets — Nosler - Bullets, Brass, Ammunition & Rifles Pretty outrageous claims on the BC's. I'm getting all my components together for a 6.5 creedmore that will get used for matches and hunting. I was...
