    Bad plan to get started?

There is a lot of ways to spend money(and waste time) on reloading gear and processes that arent necessary for reloading hunting ammo. A cheapo lee reloading kit/press will make great ammo. You don’t need an electronic powder measure for hunting ammo. Typically for rifle ammo I set a manual...

    Teaching kids to shoot.

Start him off with a red dot, or if irons, peep sights. He can learn the other sights later. Red dots make it super easy for kids and they can spend their time getting better at shooting

Bushing or FL Resizing Die? Help a Newb

No the collet die doesn’t size the shoulder at all. Neck size with a lee collet, or backed off FL die and shoot until brass grows to fit chamber. Then set FL die (std, body die, or bushing) for proper shoulder bump.

Bushing or FL Resizing Die? Help a Newb

That is a very sound approach. Often folks go and set up the FL die to bump a set amount based off measured brass that is once fired. While that’s better than following the die manufacturer directions, it still sizes brass more than it needs. It takes multiple firings to get the brass to a close...

    Bedding Advice

No the back of the lug is critical and should definitely be bedded. The concept is stress free/consistent interaction between the stock and action. The recoil lug transfers the recoil force to the stock. You want no movement there.

    Im liking this seekins element

8.14# with swfa3-9x42 and UL7 can and empty mag. Not a lot to complain about there. Hope mine shoots at great as Brad’s, just waiting on brass to become available. My kid is going to love this thing👍

    2023 NRL Hunter Match Schedule

Do you guys know if the factory division allows for you to remove a factory butt pad to shorten a LOP? I signed my kid and I up for skills for the leupold relentless match in Madras in June. They do have a complimentary young gun slot with a regular entry, Thing is the young gun needs to shoot...

    Im liking this seekins element

I just picked mine up today in 6cm. Curious, did anyone weight theirs? Mine is a bit heavier than I expected, just wondering if it’s normal.

    Dillon RL450 woahs.

That’s a sweet press. Interesting though, the frame looks different then my 450. I don’t think you would get much for as as the cost to upgrade the parts that everyone thinks they need nearly equals a new 550c anyways. But you don’t really need to upgrade, it will still be way faster than a...

    Another truck tire thread

Not cheap but also very tough/puncture resistant in an LT. I ran BFGs in the past and tried the 6ply Toyo AT3 this year on my tundra. Quieter than expected and really happy with the performance. Did an antelope hunt in the rocks in an area that is known for chewing up tires, Aired down toyos...

    Hornady Load Data Conservative?

Example: 6 arc where I am using the Hornady load data. For a 108 eld bullet/varget the charge weight is 27.2, velocity is ~2450. In the Hodgson data, for a 107 Sierra bullet/varget the charge weight is 25.8 for velocity of 2541. Since the Hodgdon data is for a 24” barrel and the Hornady is for...

    Hornady Load Data Conservative?

I don’t compare the charge weights as much as what they are showing for velocity. As pharm says above different bullets will have different actual charge weights for the same velocity. With all load data I look at the max velocity and work up to it at the bench. When I hit max book velocity it...

    Help w Rifle Inaccuracy

10 shots into 1 MOA would be great. If you have fliers 3-4” out, you obviously aren’t shooting 1moa though. I’d check the free float. A dollar bill is not even close to adequate. Sand that sucker out and give it more float. Then check the bedding with a magnetic dial indicator on the...

Magnification range for hunting out to 400 yards

What is obvious - you are asking a question that you could answer yourself if you go out and burn some ammo in the field with pretty much any scoped rifle. And you could answer it better than anyone else since personal preference plays a big role.

Magnification range for hunting out to 400 yards

Do you shoot targets, rocks, plates at 400 yards? Would give you some idea. Theoretical aside, seems easy to check. I’d be in SWFA 6x mode, it’s the easy button.
