    Sound difference in suppressor caliber

Tbac says 2-3 db max for thier ultra cans. I’ve got both 6.5 and 30 ultra 7s and I can’t notice a difference. Having slightly more clearance at the endcap I guess would reduce likelihood of a baffle strike if you suppressor loosen up (I’ve never had it happen)

    Which Powder Dispenser?

Post 21 on this thread is from one of the Hornady Guys that were on “that podcast”…… for what it’s worth https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/load-to-the-kernel-or-02.7109523/#post-10001246

    Which Powder Dispenser?

yeah but the chargemaster is slow. I’ve had zero issues with making accurate ammo with a LEE perfect $30 drum measure. Verified with 20round groups at 600yds, RL16 and XBR thrown vs weighed/trickled. No perceptible difference on target. The new dispensers like the IP are cool and super...

Normal for volume of powder to change with different lots?

Only way to know is to chrono. Lots vary, and so does powder water content due to humidity. 1# cans are a PITA. Save an 8# jug and then when you have to run 1#’s (avoid if you can) dump them in the big jug and mix them up so they are the same.

SWFA website updated; More to come in 2024

I ordered a 10x on 11/24 and it was delivered on 12/2. Seems good to me.

    Acceptable speed tolerance?

a more accurate scale isn’t going to change anything. This thread is a great example that shows when powder charge variance isn’t the major driver for ES in velocity, so getting more precise charges is not going to solve anything. You could be throwing charges straight out of a drum measure and...

Trying to find load data but I can never find the exact bullet/powder combo?

Book load data is reference data, folks miss this. Its developed in a different gun, its hardly ever going to match your rifle and mix of components exactly. “Min” or “max” charge weights listed in the book are not likely to match your rifle. If you understand that, this gets real easy. Chrono...

    A one-stop shooting rest solution?

You should try it, you might find you don’t need the head at all. I’ve been packing tripods with heads for for glassing almost 10years, first panheads, and glassing off a anvil30 the last few years. Anyway, I found I actually really like glassing off the bag now, after trying it out in NRL...

    A one-stop shooting rest solution?

Gamechanger bag or similar. My kid killed her first animal locked into the arca rail with a tripod/anvil30. After she shot a bunch off a bag she grew to prefer it over being locked into the tripod, and killed her second buck off the bag. Quicker/easier to get on target and the recoil is way...

    Rangefinders pouch

I bought the large marsupial one for my BR4, fits perfect. Easy in/out. So does the factory Revic pouch if you put some of fort into stretch in it out (was tight from the factory).

    Chopping 308 vs 6.5 Creedmoor

The idea that there is an optimum barrel length based on cartridge, or certain cartridges need longer barrels to get complete powder burn is way overblown, and mostly not true within reason (meaning non-SBR’s). All the powder is burned way way before 16”. The result is going to be the same...

What is the current best scope on the market?

To me, the SWFA 3-9 is the best scope for a hunting rifle. Durability, tracking, weight, and FFP reticle with this power range are outstanding. 6x42 is a close second. Looking forward to seeing the new versions which should be coming out shortly. It’s not really a budget thing either for me. I...

    6mm ARC Gas gun

It’s been great in an AR. The cartridge really needs an optimum burn rate temp I sensative powder to come to market, that’s my only complaint. I use 8208xbr/108eldms at 2400 out of an 18” barrel. It’s more accurate than I expected. I built it for my kids first hunt and she shot a lot at 600yds...

Experience training youth to shoot long range?

It’s been fun, I hope I don’t teach my kid bad habits, definite risk there. She can hit targets better than me, really trying to work on speed now. Lots of range time with low recoil/suppressed rifles, she has never shot any rifles with even close to moderate recoil and I really think that’s...

10 shot Group, How do you aim?

1.5” target. You aren’t going to shoot this out with 10 or 20 shots.

What tripod should I look at?

pint size waxed gamechanger with gitlite fill, weight is approx 1#, same weight as a anvil30 head. Schmedium git lite gamechanger, approx 1.75#. If worried about weight, backpacking, etc. consider it’s really multi purpose. Can use as rear bag, shoot off stumps/other stuff, sit on it, use as...

What tripod should I look at?

Or to save additional cost and weight just skip the head all together. 3/8” tee nut in a 5x8 piece of 1/2” plywood will screw right down tight direct on the tripod, bag on top. Bag works great for glassing too.

What tripod should I look at?

One thing I don’t hear discussed much is tripod quality benefit when shooting clamped into a ball head vs shooting off a bag on the tripod. The cost/stability increase of an RRS just doesn’t provide much stability benefit when you are shooting off a bag on the tripod. Direct attach, locked...

    6 creed build/buy help

My daughter was similar, training with the AR platform from 8-12yo. She hunted with one (6arc) at age 12 since it was what she was practiced with, not shooting a single bolt rifle since age 7. When she turned 13 this year we tried the bolt rifle and she took right to it. I couldn’t believe how...

    6BR tikka mags

No, it was for my kid and I didn’t want her to have to deal with feed/function issues with a tikka BR experiment if I didn’t get it sorted out quickly enough - so I just got a seekins 6cm. Was a little concerned with the jump in recoil to 6cm but its been acceptable with a can. She shoots it...
