IMO the arca is improved off a bag compared to a std forend. Settles and tracks better. I much prefer full length, the SRS 11” will bolt right on to the factory threaded inserts and fits perfect.
If you are clipping into a tripod, the full length rail allows you to slide the rifle back on the...
That’s not really true. Amazing how misconceptions never die.
OP, I’ve done both option 2 and 3. If tikka offered a factory 6cm at the time I wouldn’t have bothered with the seekins element. The element is a better shooter, but I think the tikka is a better hunting rifle.
The Revic has Doppler drag model option you can pick instead of G1 or G7. I don’t think it’s the same as AB or 4dof, but it has been accurate for me with Hornady 108’s and 147’s out to 900 with no truing needed, just enter good velocity data from garmin xero.
I’d go SWFA 6x for sure. There is absolutely no downside, and you simply won’t get a more bombproof scope for $200-250. The center of the reticle is the center, doesn’t matter if it’s a plex or mil reticle.
Kids are smart, won’t be long and you will be having them hold and dial anyways.
Then...
Yes tried taking turret off and re-installing to get the splines lined up.
Just realized that I can grip below the turret and rotate the zero mark to line it up. The fact that I can do that, not sure if that’s a feature I never noticed or something to be concerned about.
Anybody ever have one where the elevation turret somehow became mis-aligned with the zero hash mark? The 3-9 has a splined turret so you can’t just turn to align prior to tightening the turret screw(s) like the classics.
Am I missing some kind of adjustment somewhere? Strange thing was it was...
243 win, 7rm, 6.5 cm, all have lower SAAMI MAP limit than 270 win.
Hodgdon lists pressure in reference data data for 270 win, multiple powders and they are right up there close to 65ksi - above the SAAMI MAP pressure limits for 243 win, 7rm, 6,5cm.
there just isn’t as many popular cartridges in around 2400fps than there is higher. And just like most men think they are better than average drivers, a lot of guys that don’t actually shoot much think they are good to 600+. So it’s gets way less attention
you are gonna have a difficult time...
It’s entertaining I guess, the folks he gets on camera obviously don’t shoot, about like most of the guys I know that hunt.
If you are a shooter, check zero periodically or before a match once a month, you aren’t going to be humbled - you know what to expect.
I do like the focus on hitting...
Exactly. I’ve been using white turret tape (mils, not bdc) in matches so I can write lines on the turret, it’s much faster than referencing a dope card when on the clock. Would be easy to write in some quick BDC data out to 600 for hunting
No normally, but it’s another stressor. Harder than dialing to a BDC number?
Ryan, have you not ever F’d up part of the shot process, dialed wrong or forget something simple when there is an animal in the scope? I sure have.
Not saying this isn’t an awesome method, but asking why it’s easier...
The wind bracket/number makes sense and I’ve been using it successfully for years now.
The quick drop though - I don’t get it advantage over using this hunting vs writing BDC numbers on the turret for 600ish yds and in.
Math is hard when an animal is in your scope, at least for me.
If you dont mind post your thoughts after you try it out.
I can’t figure out how in the hell this ballhead is “inverted” based on the Amazon listing. So maybe they have the photo wrong, or maybe “inverted “ didn’t translate properly from Chinese.
