I'm pretty sure he was aiming at that bear to defend his life in a totally volatile situation. Pretty sure intended results are to hit the bear and break the charge seems like I'm glad he's ok not lucky. No you don't have to carry spray and no it's not illegal to carry a gun and defend yourself...
Yes Matthews seem to be quieter. You could also switch fletchings and add a little weight to your arrows. Maybe add a new stabilizer and even a back bar. All can quiet down your bow substantially without to much impact on performance.
I've got them on my victory vap ss arrows right now they are quiet and stabilize field points and broad heads well. They are long enough that I got good helical on them and they fly like lasers. They were easy to fletch and I like them so far.
Really it all comes down to tuning. Since you can't tune your bow you've got to do the arrow. Find a combo that will give you the best results for your bow and arrow set up and use that. There really isn't an easy button in trad. I bare shaft tune my arrows with field points and then even do it...
AAE max bond has worked fine for me. I don't use a primer pen but I do clean the shafts and the vanes with denatured alcohol. I've use it on quite a few different brands and styles even some feathers and it seems to work.
Stir fry, fajitas, kabobs, I've done pulled pork style bbq with a roast. It's all pretty good and it takes on flavor well just remember that it's lean don't overcook it to much but make sure it gets done through.
I agree I'm in central MT there's been a few bears around. It's been a warm dry winter. The whole last week has been in the high 50-60s and tomorrow is supposed to be 70 degrees. Yes it could snow a bit more but winter is officially over. Hell we get snow in June almost every year but it's wet...
Yes hide, skull and meat. There are no griz in CO. In the fall it is pretty effective usually if you can see the bear first. I've never successfully blind called a bear in CO. Not every bear is inclined to respond if they are actively feeding they will ignore you. If the bear is traveling it is...
The leaves should still be good definitely starting to fall but plenty of the trees. Not just Aspen but Alder and Cottonwood and most of the wild roses and berry bushes will be full color. It should be a nice trip.
There's an awful lot of grizzlies everywhere the buffalo roam in this state. We have a few bears in every mountain range and along most of the major river corridors.
I imagine some father of a sweet little girl, who painted a rock for Daddy to remember her by, placed it there to show her how much he missed her while he was away hunting. One day hundred of year into the future some archeologist will be telling the world about the artifact he found. Hell...
Get a good seat pad and get comfortable with your binos preferably on a tripod and glass all day. A tarp helps immensely to keep the rain and sun off. Hunt those buggers with your eyes not your feet.
