I am leaving tomorrow for Colorado, gonna hunt the 19th thru the 28th, the forecast for 11000ft (capital peak area) shows daytime highs around 50 and nighttime lows around 40. That seems like very warm nite temps to me, is this about what you guys out there are seeing? Is the bugling going hot yet? -

I love hunting western ND, awesome country, almost as good as the mountains except the oil fields are killing a lot of it. have the deer numbers came back up? I know a few years ago tags were really limited. this was north of grassy butte. -

(Why should we have to oil the leather to keep the water from penetrating the leather because the waterproof liner isn't going to stop it like it's supposed to? Isn't that the point the op is trying to get across? We buy a pair of boots with x brand waterproof liner in them, then have to make... -

Proper application of leather sealant?
After applying obenaufs let it soak in and dry and then reapply out until it won't soak up anymore. I had a pair of Cabelas gortex boots that leaked bad and I saturated them with obenaufs and I have worked in the wet snow for an entire day without getting wet feet. -

Did you treat your boots with a good leather treatment? That's the first thing I would do which is probably better than gortex anyway but you shouldn't be soaking they that quick with the lowas. -

I just bought a pair of Easton carbon poles at dicks on clearance for $80, didn't realize how much they help till you use them on hills or uneven terrain. -
Quiver or no quiver
There is no way to safely carry arrows without a quiver, get used to shooting with one on your bow and you won't notice it. I read a story about a guy carrying his broadhead tipped arrow in his hand and fell and the broadhead went thru his throat and he bleed to death . -

Hunting on a budget
I just got a pair of microtex pants from cabelas for $42 bucks, they are on sale and I had a $10 coupon, unless you are going to use this stuff constantly I cant justify spending the money for the high end stuff, you can get a good pack, Eberlestock, Horn Hunter, Badlands that will do you just...- miller1
