Quiver or no quiver

Do you guys pack a quiver in or save weight and just take arrows?

Seems like a quiver would be particularly handy on a stalk but not an absolute necessity.

There is no way to safely carry arrows without a quiver, get used to shooting with one on your bow and you won't notice it. I read a story about a guy carrying his broadhead tipped arrow in his hand and fell and the broadhead went thru his throat and he bleed to death .

I agree completely, I always have a bowquiver on. my wife and father in law use or tried to use a cat quiver and a belt quiver style setup and they have discovered that you can carry extra arrows in your backpack for a long backcountry hunt but the bow quiver is the safest and easiest method for carrying them.

Sorry to intrude, but how many arrows do you guys typically take?
I was planning on just the 4 in my bow quiver, plus a couple of blunts in my pocket for stumps & grouse, but I'm thinking that may not be enough for a 6 day hunt.....
With only a 4 slot bow quiver, what's the best way of carrying spares?

on a 14 day hun I take just the 4 arrows that are in my quiver and I bring in a judo point for grouse. that is to say if I am within 10-12 miles of my truck where I have a dozen spare arrows in a case with all my extra supplies... If I am farther back in or am in a place where the logistics make it impractical to go back to the truck I then carry 4 more arrows wih the broadheads taken off i(rubberbanded together and staggered so as not to crush vanes)n the side pocket of my BT1 with my tripod or spotter. the broadheads get wrapped up in blue painters tape and stored inside the pack.

If I need more than the 4-5 arrows in my quiver, then I should have stayed home. I certainly wouldn't deserve another shot at anything after using that many arrows.

the only reason i arry more than four is if it is impractical to go back to the truck to get more. It has nothing to do with missing or needig more, i has to do with the one time I slipped and fell down a muddy hillside while stalking a muley above timberline, my bow landed on a rock and broke all four arrows. My hunt would have been over if I had not had spares somewhere I could hike out to.

Quiver for me. A lot of times I'm hiking out from spike with just stuff for the day, and want all my arrows without carrying a full pack. Its a calculated risk, just carrying the 5 arrows...but so far so good. Most of the time I hunt by myslef, but my hunting buddy and I are fortunate enough to have the same draw length and similar bow setups. We shoot the same arrow/broadhead combination for a reason, between the two of us that is 10 arrows inase one of us has an emergency.

5 arrows in a Tightspot for me. The TS quivers will easily come off as well if you'd want to ditch it for some reason on a stalk.

I carry 4 arrows in a trophy ridge quiver that weighs nothing. 3 razor sharp broad heads and one stump/grouse arrow with different vane colors so I can differentiate. I've played with the idea of ditching the quiver but surprisingly enough it helps stabilize my bow on top of being safer
