It's my first time using it but it's made to do AR's and other tactical firearms and there are videos on YouTube of torture tests where they beat duracoated clips with hammers & screwdrivers and it holds up well... So it seems like it is some tough stuff for sure.
I"ll be honest, I haven't owned a ton of Elites over the years but I have owned a few....Now with that said the one thing I noticed on every one of them I had was the grip can be a little touchy on them....To me the Elite grip is a lot like the big ass Mathews wood grip, you either love it or...
Black Eagle Rampage .300 spine, 50gr brass Easton HIT inserts in them, 4" white wraps, 4 fletched AAE Pro Max vanes in Fire Orange, Bohning A-nocks, 100gr Ulmer Edge heads.
Is that Eastons version of a super glue for inserts??? I picked up a tiny little bottle a few weeks ago at Scheels, I don't remember any Dr. Doug's stuff on it but I know Easton makes it, it's for inserts & says it's ok for HIT inserts...
Not sure on the grip yet, 99.9% of the time on a Hoyt I throw some black athletic tape on there and shoot it straight off the riser... Might put side plates on it though.
As far as the limbs go, I'm sure Duracoat will hold up fine one them, I just didn't want to spray them... I figured either...
I found a set of Max-1 limbs, guy was supposed to ship them either yesterday or today.. My string builder is building new strings either today or tomorrow for it... Hopefully by the end of next week I have it all back together and can start tuning it.
Yeah that sucks, you'd think that in HI you guys wouldn't have those issues, not like it's Russia, lol... I feel for you, can't get paint, terrible scenery and cold weather, lol.
I ordered it directly from their website...You can also find it on eBay sometimes. I opt'd to order direct from them because that way I could get the complete kit "can of paint & can of degreaser". Worst part is shipping though, since it's a chemical prices are always higher and it has to ship...
Well I was pretty generous with the last coat on the riser, plus I sprayed some random parts... I probably still have 1/4 of a can left. They say you can do 4 guns with that can.
I used the Aerosol kit they have on this one... It's easy to use as long as you take your time and do light coats... First couple coats look terrible, by the 3rd coat it starts looking better... I think I ended up doing 5 coats on the riser to make sure I had all the little corners covered well.
Limb pockets were a little scratched up so I wet sanded them and just shot them with some black truck bed liner "it's wet in the pic but dries flat black"... Also did the 2 cups where the limb bolt head sets in that go in the limb pocket holes & string stop end in Duracoat this morning
Picked up this element on the cheap the other day, black riser / carbon fiber pattern limbs... Bow had been used, few scratches & chips but nothing major. I figured I didn't have a ton of $$$ in it so I'd give it a makeover... Ordered a Duracoat kit in Coyote Brown, prepped the riser and a few...
