Mainly due to cost of the ammo vs .308. Also availability for the next couple of years will be iffy, if it’s anything like what happened with 6.5 PRC. I can walk to my local gun stores in town here and find tons of .308 from $13.99/box of range ammo to $40/box of good stuff.
From the...
After 20 years of hunting with my Remington 700 30-06, I’ve decided to buy a new rifle, specifically a Springfield Waypoint. I’m torn between getting it in .308 or the upcoming 7PRC.
I’d like to get the .308 because of ammo availability and cheaper cost, which in turn would let me shoot this...

Some good perspectives in this thread. I myself fall...
I have one of the new Ultra fabric packs and I don’t consider it noisy. When scraping through dense brush I’d say it’s slightly noisier than cordura packs, but not enough to make me worried.

I'm torn between the Premier Series Highlander and the Wilderness Series Ridge. I can get the Ridge for $930 and the Highlander for $1400. Is the Premier action, stainless fluted barrel, TriggerTech trigger, and Greybo stock on the Highlander worth the extra $470?
Don’t forget that the new material Seek Outside is using is way more durable and lighter per square inch than any of the material Kifaru is using, which is Cordura and X-PAC. The correlation that lightweight = less durable, is fading away. Stone Glacier is using the same material as SO on their...
I agree with you that the the initial torso fitting is simple. It was figuring out where the bag should ride i.e. lower on the frame or higher, lumbar pad or no lumbar pad, floating hip belt or captured hip belt, 2” frame extensions or 4” frame extensions etc. For me, bag centered on frame...
Make sure you dial in the pack fit. There's a lot more adjustment options than on the other packs. I am loving my SO Unaweep, and have recently bumped up my training weight to 100 lbs from 60 lbs. It carries like an absolute dream with both weights. But, it did take me about a week of tinkering...
I’ve got one of the new Seek Outside packs (Unaweep 6300) with the new Ultra PE fabric. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a cordura made bag. The tear and puncture resistance, waterproofness, and lightness of that fabric are far beyond cordura. I think Stone Glacier (Terminus pack) and Seek...
Seek Outside: Integrated Vs. Breakaway Frame

This thread has some good suggestions...
Fit is everything. Do you have a flat back? Deep lumbar? Short or long torso etc. These are all factors that play into fit and comfort. Only you can decide what’s best for you. It’s hard to find ways to try these packs as most aren’t found in your big box stores. I’ve had to order and send back...
Just bought one of these Hardside Hydration kits at the Big Sky TAC this weekend. I’m really liking it so far. Was easily able to see how much water I had left and when I got to the the water stations, it was a breeze to fill my bottle without taking my pack off and digging around for a bladder...
I have a Seek Outside Unaweep in the UltraPE and a Kuiu IconPro thats in Cordura. Durability and waterproofness goes to the UltraPE by a long shot. I’ve owned my Kuiu for about 4 years now and it has soaked through in fairly serious thunderstorms. It’s also starting to get tears and holes in...
Lots of options out there. There’s really no right answer as everyone is different. Like boots. I have a Kuiu Pro 2300 as a daypack, and had the 5500 for multiday trips. The frame puts too much pressure in my lumbar for anything more than 2-3 miles, so now it’s just a daypack with meat carrying...
Thanks sndmn11 for the photo tutorial. I’ve been wondering about this setup for a bit. I just got a integrated frame Unaweep, so may need to play around a bit with attaching my kid carrier to it. Will report back if someone else doesn’t beat me to it.

SO went to a couple new fabrics, and to my knowledge has done away with X-Pac. The new fabric that’s called “Ultra 400” is made by a US based company named Challenge Sailcloth/Outdoors. The fabric itself is made in China. I own one of the SO packs with the new Ultra fabric, and I must say it is...
