OTC/DIY hunting in an Outfitters territory & Guiding ethics

I'd like to see what everyone's opinions are on hunting in an Outfitters territory as a DIY/OTC hunter. Below is my only experience: In the area I hunt there's an Outfitter that operates multiple camps. My first season ended without an outfitter/guide encounter, though we did see several...

    Horses - A Burden or a Blessing?

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! To clarify a couple things: - We both grew up with horses and are generally familiar. My brother spent time working for an outfitter in MT/ID and has extensive knowledge on packing/knots/etc. He would be the primary caretaker. - Water/pasture is very near camp...

My question is: If I were to go and make a scouting trip out of it, will I gain any useful info at this...

Good luck! I'll be near there the 2nd week of archery. Be curious to know what the biologist/rangers had to say. Never was able to get much reliable info when I called.

    raingear

I certainly agree with TheCougar that if you're looking for something bombproof to get the best you can afford. From the sound of the original post, WYO-ALT hasn't used and wont use often and may find a better use for the additional money. I only bow hunt and the weather is warmer and the suit I...

I use the Guide series suit from Gander mtn. Works great and only costs about $60 for jacket and pants. Lightweight and packable.
