    Lag Bolts vs Tent Stakes

I like the 12" spikes too. They are a great stake for the SO-12 Man tipi.

    Lag Bolts vs Tent Stakes

I cut steel T-posts into 24" lengths, and put a crude point on one end. For wall tent. Sold off the wall tent in favor of tipi, but it worked well.

Why is everyone in love with the 6.5 creedmoor?

It's like asking why the F-150 is a popular pickup.

Walking it back, 20 to 40 yards

If I feel ready, and fortune favors my will, I'll get some meat down this season. I won't take a poke at a deer past 15-20 yards. Preferably 10-15 yards. The 20-40 yard stuff is for fun, maybe 3D someday.

Walking it back, 20 to 40 yards

I'm not always as messy as it looks in that vid. Out of integrity I was willing to share it anyways. Here's some of my winter practice. Same bow, same arrows, but only 14 yards and indoors.

Walking it back, 20 to 40 yards

My draw length has to be around 32". This arrow is 32.5" from nock valley, to insert.

Walking it back, 20 to 40 yards

I was a little disappointed with the consistency I was getting shooting those 500/600 spine arrows with the 145gr points, out of the 35# bow, in the vid above. I had been shooting that combo over the winter, in the garage. Max distance was 14 yards. They seemed reasonably good in that...

Walking it back, 20 to 40 yards

So I set up the video cam to help with my self-analysis. I shot one each at 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 yards. Working on the subconscious skill. I ran through the course about a dozen times. Filmed the first couple. Kind of messy, but it is what it is, practice, building that memory...

    Instinctive Shooting?

As humans, about the only thing we do instinctively is nurse the breast, and reproduce. Just about everything else we must learn how to do.

    Instinctive Shooting?

Three under, instinctive. I'm pretty new at this. Just started about a year ago. Tried gap initially, then sort of transitioned into a more instinctive method after I wore out a couple bag targets. I'm focusing on the target, but sort of subconsciously getting a sight picture including the...

    Samick Discovery

To me, they are like night and day. The Slick Stick is lightweight, cut about center, very snappy. I would not call it 'forgiving' as some bows are described. When I get messy, the bow will definitely give the feedback. The Discovery feels like an anchor in comparison, but that added...

    Shooting through mirage (boil)

When mirage turns the target into a dancing blob of color, it's hard to see, hard to hit, and hard to get visual feedback. When your line-of-sight is close to the ground, it gets much worse. If you can elevate your firing point, the target, or both, it helps. Here's a short clip where I was...

    Samick Discovery

Thanks for the info guys. I'm mostly shooting a 32" GT Warrior 340 with 250gr field tip. I have other arrows from 600, 500, and 400 spine. I was doing some bare shaft testing a while back and was surprised to find that the bow handled even the lighter spines well. Even a 30" 600 spine with...

    Samick Discovery

Picked up a Discovery with the 45# R3 limbs a while back. I'm just using a stick-on rest. Seems to shoot well, but I'm curious if anyone else is shooting a Discovery, and how you have it set up. I was kind of wanting to set it up for shooting off the shelf, but maybe it's best to leave it as...

    Strap on, slide on, or...?

I see where Great Northern has a 'quick mount' series of quivers that attach via the limb bolts on most 3-piece takedown bows. They also offer adaptors for ILF bows. Might be worth a look. https://greatnorthernbowhunting.com/products/great-northern-quick-mount-professional-quiver...

    Toelke Whip (40#) Chronograph Test

I got into this archery addiction (grin) about a year ago. I promptly had a Bear Montana longbow riser blow up on me. That convinced me to go deeper in the pocket and order a Toelke Whip. Went with a 64" Whip, 40# at 28". What a nice bow. Anyhoo, recently I got around to doing some chrono...
