I unscrewed the "v" from an old trigger stick and mounted it on the adapter plate for my Vortex Pro GT tripod. I can shoot it sitting, kneeling, and standing.
Most likely the elk were pushed out by early archery/muzzleloader pressure. Look at your maps and find where pressured elk would move to from that area.

It’s not a one and done though. If you are trying to find your best route through the woods you will need something brighter as a backup. If I’m on a trail or just setting camp or cooking I only use the clip light.
My favorite indoor workout is to bring my plyo box in and watch hunting shows on tv with my pack loaded with 45#, do 20” step ups the entire show, alternating legs. I try to keep a good pace (nothing crazy) and do it for an hour.
I have my calls, wind checker, phone, tags, and range finder neatly tucked away in mine. Plus it keeps everything close to my chest with no floppage (yes thats a word)...think of it like a sports bra for your binos
