Probably going to be a tough hunt in the rain. Even with a dog the birds are going to be tough to flush. Not impossible and still probably a great day of memories, just not something I'd attempt... But I'm also lazy.
After reading that it is a two pole design, I want to be a part of the R&D. 😉. I've wanted a two pole design for years to allow for more headroom so as to not feel like I'm dancing the pole when operating in the shelter and I'm not even that tall! Can't wait to see what you put out there.
Seems you have a 15,000 dollar savings. If you hold Bitcoin until next year's, or the following year or for a 50th birthday present, will your coin have made up the gap and now the savings is an equilateral move or a move with a bit left over in the coin fund if the coin does as well as it has...
The 3p with a stove could be pretty useful for two guys with gear, but I feel like it would be too tight once you add the stove. Ultimately becoming a large palace for one. This is assuming you're going with typical dimensions per person. Therefore I'd say no stove jack if you're sizing follows...
You should give one of these battery units a whirl. No, it's not a fuel generator where you can supply it fuel and it will run until the oil is gone and it freezes up. However, they will do most everything you need and usually have little lacking in way of performance. If you couple this unit...
Take a nalgene, boil water and pour into the nalgene. Throw the hot water bottle into your bag (I like to toss it in the middle and kind of bunch the bag like a rolled down sock). The water bottle can be placed wherever you want additional heat as well has prewarming your bag and adding...
You can bench 350+, but if you're skipping leg day can you carry a heavier synthetic sleeping bag?
List what you want in the bag for better help:
Down or Synthetic
Packability or are you base camping from the truck
Temp rating
Bag length
Any other shits and giggles you prefer.
Put my buddy on his first. Just a little antlered fella but pulled about 60 lbs of venison off him. Buddy couldn't have been more jazzed about it after 2 days of nothing.
Recovery cost. Truck was 3 weeks old to me so the wife, while not surprised with my shenanigans, was not all that thrilled.
Here's yet another adventure. This one was only about $600. This one was not my fault though. Dirt road we'd traveled many times but an underground spring was revitalized...
If you're not going to drink your coffee black, might I suggest:
A tad heavy, but if you add two to your coffee you probably won't care much about the weight.
I use center zip sleeping bags. This allows you to use a warmer bag in the hotter temps by leaving it unzipped and draping it over you like a quilt. Ice don't the same with the side zips and it does work just fine but the damn hood location drives me nuts.
It's not WWII era but a bit earlier (1915); "Endurance - Shackleton's Incredible Journey" by Alfred Lansing, is a great listen on Audible. A failed artic exploration by Ernest Shackleton and crew and the incredible survival and rescue.
