b3 8x30
I like an 8x power of bino’s for the stability and my 4 year old kept rat-holing my pocket rangefinders but for whatever reason would never touch the binos in my chest harness. Figured it would be best to combine the range with the bino so he would leave my sh!t alone. lol.
Have a pair of GPO 8x40 rangeguides bought from Doug. Have put them through the gauntlet the past year. From West Texas dust storms to sub zero Montana hunts. The optical clarity was on par/better than my Maven binos and rangefinding ability better than the Swaro EL’s. IMO, it’s a good mix of...
i’m with ya. Killed ~15 big game this season with 22cm in eldm/eldx but the hamster wheel’s always spinning. Always a better way to improve on wind bracket/ etc. while minimizing muzzle jump and maximizing terminal performance.
bullet performance on dead critters is still data. We’re all here because we want to make sure we have all of the information necessary to make an informed decision before we put it into play in the field.
if one was looking for reliable exits and a blend of eldm type, early fragmentation internal damage with a good chance of an exit, would the HPBT be the logical starting point in the ~105gr load? I’ve had good success with the eldm from 22cm to 6.5prc but have had virtually no blood trails on...
I have 3 kills with 80 eldx. None with an exit, but with great wound channels. It’s a phenomenal killing bullet as long as the animal dies in a short distance.
ironically, the 147 eldm had the exact same wound characteristics on the larger animal. Through the tougher hide, into the shoulder through the heart and part of the jacket broke a rib and lodged in the offside hide. I think i’d love an 80ish grain bullet with similar internal damage to the eldm...
I wouldn’t say the leg STOPPED it, but it felt obvious that there would not have been significant penetration. I will look back and see if I snapped a picture. I tend to not take many pictures when my hands are covered in blood.
It was the first time I thought “man, a heavier bonded or thicker...
3 more whitetail does with 75 eldm this weekend
1) 650 yards broadside. Small entry, double lung, traveled 10 feet, on its feet less than 10 seconds, lungs jellied, part of the jacket made it to the offside.
2) 320 yards broadside. hit low on the front shoulder into the leg area and made the...
why lower than 9.7 scoped/suppressed? Do you have issues spotting shots? my 7.5lb scoped/suppress fieldcraft 22cm even gets a little hairy watching impacts at short distances at 10x
sounds close to my gut insticts. 20” feels right for portability and velocity. (imo 24” with a can is a broomstick and 18” is so usable)
It will more than likely be fitted with a 30oz 3.5-15nxs (30oz) and PRI rings. I’ve got a hoard of suppressor weighing between 9-16oz and feel comfortable...
For those of you that have already built rifles, if you were to start over, would you chose the following?
•109 eldm vs 108 Berger EH (others?)
•18-20-22” (will be surpressed 100%)
•ideal overall weight to spot shots?
•alternative to rokstok on an r700 action? (availability concerns)
The goal...
they turned out great! Need to spend some more time with them but I do have the 6.5 creed backing me up on a Muley hunt right now (primary is a horizon 22 creed)
have a 6.5 prc ridgeline that groups excellent after the break-in, HOWEVER, it seems to build pressure quickly with factory ammo (heavy bolt lift even after a 2 piece spring)
newer lot (slower) eldm seemed to group the best (below an inch 5 shot groups at 200 yards) but it was very picky early...
