Myself and others here have had Swaro scopes fail. Personally I had a Z6 and two X5 scopes that failed on me. I would not trust a Z3 or Z5 either. Yes, the glass is great but the scopes would not consistently perform their one job (steer bullets too the target). You really should spend some...
The reality is that bullet hit something else first before it hit the animal in the picture. Be it another deer or an obstruction...it hit something. That's the reality.
@Harvey_NW what happened to the deer standing in front of the deer in the OP that the bullet passed through?
That bullet either hit an object or went through another animal. There is no way that the bullet recovered in the picture first contacted the deer in the OP...it hit something else first.
I'm very interested in this scope assuming the price is in line with the Maven RS1.2. I'd buy at least one right away for some testing and depending on that I might buy 2-3 (or more) more. I'm a definite yes for one, a possible for 3-4.
Check out post #5944 in the Rokstok thread. That wood stock will be worth the wait (allegedly will be available for order for Tikkas sometime in September).
I can't comment on an hour past sunset (not legal here) but I CAN attest to the 3-15 in hardwood creek bottoms (most shots under 70 yards in those bottoms, occasional longer shots depending on stand location) up to 30 minutes past sunset and for me it's a non-issue. I prefer the Maven, but the...
Thank you, @Journeyman , I hope yall are able to make that happen!
Along those lines, any interest in Huskemaw making an affordable, durable, semi lightweight (20-23oz) 2-10/2-12/3-12/3-15 x40 ish range 30 mm tube first focal plane scope with great field/hunting reticle that doesn't require...
Fired cartridges measured the same dimensions (not just to the shoulder). The Hornady, at a lower velocity, is swiping heads and causing sticky bolt lift but the round you believe to be over pressure has neither issue (and again, fired case dimensions are the same for both). The powder in the...
@Stocky and @Dobermann both of mine have similar illumination bleeding issues such as that. Thankfully with this reticle I don't need illumination and the scope functions just fine. That really seems to be the only "flaw" with this scope and for me it is insignificant.
The Hornady and Federal loads are clearly not using the same powder. The Federal loads are shorter than the Hornady, but in my rifle there is still plenty of length to the lands so they are not jamming. Using the Hornady comparator tool, fired brass to the shoulder is the same across both...
I've only been shooting factory ammo while accumulating components. I have all components now and will be starting load workup (Form's method) soon and will post that info.
The Hornady Precision Hunter 175 ELD-X ammo has shown wide lot to lot variability in my recent testing. I have a 7 PRC built off a Tikka action, Bartlein CFW 18 inch barrel, Thunderbeast Ultra 7 can. All velocity numbers below are averaged over the entirety of a 20 round box. I'd shoot 5...
