If you want to shoot lighter bullets go ahead with a 270WSM. If your going to shoot heavier bullets you might as well jump up to the 6.8 Western for a new rifle. It is basically a 270wsm throated and twisted for heavier bullets, ie long range.

So this just happened in Cruces today on the main freeway. I went to college in Cruces and never felt it was particularly unsafe. However I grew up in a different part of NM and there is definitely a different mentality to the state. My hunting buddy doesn't understand why I am so paranoid...
