    If you want to shoot lighter bullets go ahead with a 270WSM. If your going to shoot heavier bullets you might as well jump up to the 6.8 Western for a new rifle. It is basically a 270wsm throated and twisted for heavier bullets, ie long range.

    Sign up for a free membership at ammoseek and set an email notification. I've routinely seen it pop up places for around $60 a box for both ELD-X and ELD-M. It usually goes pretty quick, but I probably get a couple notifications a week.

    Thats the official date, but they usually release about a week early and also usually release on a Wednesday. In past years you might have been able to see it Tuesday night depending on which back door method you used.

    Yes, you can get a preference point with your 1st choice and get a list A or B tag with your 2nd choice as long as there are tags available at that level.

    Pay for the Gypsy guide on the App store. It is nice to have while driving around and will give you some history as well as suggestions for stopping or not stopping. I haven't looked for them since my wife planned everything when we went, but I've heard there are Facebook groups or websites...

    Ruger American Predator 6.5

    Ridiculously accurate for the money. I threw an on-sale Boyd's on mine and bedded it. It is heavy, but for the local hunts it really doesn't matter to me. I was handloading Barnes Lrx, but the factory ammo shot just as good as my hand loads so I was using that back when it was cheap.

    So this just happened in Cruces today on the main freeway. I went to college in Cruces and never felt it was particularly unsafe. However I grew up in a different part of NM and there is definitely a different mentality to the state. My hunting buddy doesn't understand why I am so paranoid...
