Rain Pants: How often do you use them?

I am a western Oregon guy also. I wear these pants all day. They are sized and feel like regular pants instead of fitting like a giant plastic bag like some rain gear. I agree with others if you are seldom using your rain gear, it is not worth spending this much money...

    Can I Cerakote a scope?

The guy who did my gun said you can do scopes but he recommended against it in case you may want to sell it. I did everything else including the bolt and the scope rings.

    Scenario; you hear a bugle

I get blown by wind most of the time so I would be inclined to get out from on top of him. Put out a cow call and immediately move to one side and drop to get level with him or closer. Assuming I now sound like the rest, I should be able to get on the roll of the hill and see If I chose the...

    Peanut butter to jelly ratio

50 / 50 Skippy I eat the crust off first. Because its awesome. Best ones are the buttface sandwiches when you get down to the front and back ends and 1 interior pc left. Its like the big mac of PB&J.

    What to upgrade?

I would get the new pack setup. The bag is only a burden in and out. The pack will hopefully be making numerous heavy trips. A nice pack compared to what you have now will lessen the "suck" of carrying some less than ideal heavy and bulky gear.

Back country pack in hunt, gear and pack weights..

I have a number of years experience in the middle fork. The access can be tough and slow going. Take multiple spares for the truck. Make certain you have a lot of fuel and bring the tire chains. Bring an Inreach or sat phone. I have been there with 60deg and 2 days later I was hunting in the...

    Tarp shelters in high winds

Rocks are your best friend. I use the groundhog minis and usually take a couple regular groundhogs to use in the worst spots. I made big loops on the tie outs with line locs so i can either set up really high or loop around a rock or log.

    Solo Elk Hunting

I enjoy the solitude. All I need is my GPS and the inreach to talk to the wife. I listen to music for an hour or so at night. I agree the mental is the hardest part for most. Not really an issue for me anymore. As mentioned, the freedom to make all of your decisions on the spot without anyone...
