Bring the Tracts and the Kowas. If you are checking a bag then bring a practical multi tool. If not they make useful TSA approved multi tools. Bring an IFAK (it’s not the odds it’s the stakes that matter) and spring for the extra insurance. OR Helium rain shell is only 8oz. Enjoy your trip! Take...
From the models you mentioned my only experience is with the SHV (simple duplex non illuminated). It has proven so far to be very reliable. It has held zero for over three years. It has survived being strapped to well used packs and sliding off truck tailgates. I put a tether on the elevation...
I keep one of these “ABC” type from Amerex in my canopy. I mounted it up on the bars so it wouldn’t get buried by the other stuff in the truck bed. I keep another in a sportsman’s tote strapped down in my truck. Along with a sturdy short handled shovel, a small forest axe and a arborist style...
I’d say it’s something like 60% solo 40% with a partner or as part of a group. As much as I really do enjoy the camaraderie of a group, sometimes it is nice not to run decisions by someone else. I don’t have much of a problem with backpacking solo for a few days. I guess being armed and having...
At least it’s something. I think my InReach mini has some kind of parasitic drain on the battery. Fully charged and shut off for a couple weeks. Then it will be at ~75-80% when I turn it on again. Not reassuring. It does seem to charge up normally though. Keep us updated on your experience with...
Swaro ATS 65 in the spotting scope pouch of my SG5900 with my Kuiu glassing pad on the outboard side of the pouch. No stay on case as of yet. Still relatively new to me though.
I do think it would be too short. I have a regular. The long would be just about right for me. Seeing as you’re a few inches taller than me you would likely be in the boat I am now.
Unpack, clean, repair and replace. I’ve got different things for different applications so they go back into their totes for the next trip. The stuff that doesn’t change stays in the pack. Example would be Inreach, IFAK, repair kit and spare headlamp.
Swing by a job site and ask the framing/siding guys on site for any waste. Or ask the folks at your local hardware store about any partials left. Wash and dry it in the laundry before you use it to eliminate some of the crinkling.
Check out the Vihtavuori load data for comparison purposes. Their loads with n165 were way more stout for some of the 160gr class bullets. I understand that not all bullet shapes will produce the same pressure, but it is a huge difference from the nosler book.
I just roll the tops of my Xtratuf boot down and wear them like that when I don’t need the full height. Xtratuf makes a 6” deck boot that might be easier to get into.
Early season on myself; Salomon Quest 4D, Darn Tough wool socks, Smartwool merino boxer, Firstlite Obsidian pant, Wick merino t-shirt, Black Ovis 1/4 zip hoody 150 weight, mesh snap back ball cap. In the pack; OR helium rain jacket, Kuiu Chugach rain pant, Kuiu superdown jacket, fleece beanie...
