I have a pair of those exact binos. However, I haven't used them much. Even in the trees, I like magnification. It can turn a suspicious stick into a tine.
Skip MT. The antelope numbers have been down since 2011 and for whatever reason, do not seem to be recovering well.
WY does a great job with antelope management. If I didn't live in MT, I'd go to WY for antelope.
I've had one since 2004. Mine is a Winchester M70 classic stainless. Mine has been easy to load for - 7828 is the best powder I've found.
Recoil is about on par with a 300 Win Mag
Great elk/mule deer round, but in the age of turrets and laser rangefinders, I don't carry it as much now.
I almost never carry a rain jacket in November. Soft shell all the way.
I’ll wear a wind proof mid layer if I think it might be warm but windy. If it’s colder, I just wear the soft shell for wind.
The trick is finding the right soft shell. Most have a fleece liner, making them too warm to...
I have both and agree with everything said above. The Chinook is not nearly as wind or weather resistant as the Guide.
Frankly, I don’t think the Chinook is much of a jacket. There’s a lot of pieces of clothing that will do what it does, and they cost a lot less and don’t weigh nearly as much.
I have one. The trick is not to judge it against other "tents." It will not measure up to a 3-4 lb tent. To get to the weight of the 1p Spike, you're going to have to give up features and comfort.
However, at 1 lb it is as light as a bivy bag. How does it compare to a bivy? 10X better...
Unbelievable.
If I thought a piece or brand of clothing was the best I could find, I'd gladly pay full retail or even double the MSRP.
Sales are nice, but I've never been up on a mountain with failing gear and thinking "Man, this sucks but I got a heck of a deal on it!"
So if I report on my observations I’m “shitting” on someone? Rokslide is the truly the snowflake’s haven.
For the record, yes I’m talking about 3 shot groups. Nobody ever specified otherwise. Usually if someone is referring to a different shot count, they will point that out.
YMMV
Out of my 9, 1 is a hunter and 1 is a subalpine. The rest are Montanas.
Like I said, only one was difficult to get shooting. It was a VERY early model 308. There is no doubt Kimber had some issues at the start, those are over now. The last few I’ve bought have all been easy shooters.
