The flip side of this is, does anyone else ever feel duped by the advertisers and influencers when they come out with a new (highest priced) item? Whether it is a $600 sight, $500 jacket, $800 pack, are any of these products truly better than others at half the price? Advertising psychology is...
The only solution to increased demand is to increase supply. With all the money hunting brings in why are states not buying land when it comes up for sale? Everyone who is complaining about too many people make sure you join a conservation organization. As land gets developed it will only...
Join a conservation group. Check out Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in your area. Volunteer at one of their events and you will meet people who have the same goals or have done it before. Nothing better to learn with someone face to face.
I have a similar arrow set up, Easton Axis 5mm 300 spine, 511gr. I have tested many different vanes, 3 and 4 fletch. There is no difference inside of 50 yards and sometimes more like 60 yards. After a ton of testing different configurations I settled on 3 fletch helical AAE Max Stealth. I...
NM is very tough unless you have hounds. Even in great bear areas they are very difficult to pattern and if you do spot one, stalking in to bow range is not easy. Sept in NM is bow only. One option would be to find someone with an elk tag or go to an area with lots of elk and sit over a gut pile.
I have one. I liked it, shot one medium 5X5 bull and one javelina with it. I switched to the Garmin Xero for several reasons. To me it was better suited to 3D shoots. There is a lot going on hunting and adding the retina lock was one more thing to worry about. Overall it is a durable good sight.
I have the Garmin Xero A1i. Like all sights there are pros and cons. At first I was not a fan. It took me a few months to get used to it. Now I really like it for hunting. For the cons it is a little heavy and bulky, in some situations it is more difficult to range things with brush around...
Cow elk problems? Let me know when you find that land owner. You may have found one 10+ years ago. Today lots of ranchers are making good money on land owner tags or trespass fees. Just like finding farmers with white tail deer problems back east or hog problems in the south. If you want to...
I am not sure why you are getting the hate. Sounds like you have a great trip planned and are concerned about not wasting any meat. Have a great trip, good luck and happy hunting!
On a related topic I don't understand why anyone would give info by PM but not post it publicly. If you are giving good info to someone you don't know well, it is almost guaranteed that person will turn around and share it with others, who share it with others, who share it with others. In a...
One way to determine if you should carry an additional firearm or not, would be to look at all the attacks on hunters in the area you plan on hunting in the last 5-10 years. Include everything you are concerned about, other humans, lions, wolves, bears and whatever else inhabits that area...
Definitely not needed, but like others have said if it makes you feel more comfortable go for it. We humans are horrible about assessing risk. The likelihood you will need a firearm to protect yourself is astronomically low. We worry so much about the monsters and the boogey man when in...
