If you are hunting around Libby you are not required to report the harvest either online or through the phone system. You just need to bring the bear to a FWP office within 10 days of harvest. The 48-hr reporting requirement is just for units that have a quota. You can see in @MTbowhunter36...
The call ended up happening yesterday but it went really well. The purpose of the call was to discuss mule deer management in Region 1 and we had some great conversation pertaining to that. We didn't have much time to discuss anything else and he didn't have much to say HB 505 since it's still...
I have a phone call scheduled tomorrow w/ the acting chairman of the MT Fish & Game commission. I was not aware of this legislation and it is not the purpose of the phone call but I will definitely be asking him about it now. Thanks to the finner for bringing this to light because like sioux33...
I went through this same thing last year. I ended up going with the stiffer spine (Victory RIP TKO 250) and the AAE Hybrid 26. I went with the SS inserts and a 125 gr point. I fletched both 3 and 4 with a right helical. After a month of shooting both I ended up going 4 fletch. They just...
I started running the Kodiak Cub Max last season and it has worked well for me. 10x42's fit great, keep my rangefinder in the front pocket, bino adapter, lens cloth, head lamp and wind checker in the side pockets, inReach in the max pocket, tags in the back, phone and diaphragms in the elastic...
Like idahohikker said, MT/WY/ID spring bear are all great options. WY would probably be easiest since it's closest but just find an area and season that is what you are looking for and go for it. Staying to open country is another great idea. Here in NW MT I tend to walk gated logging roads...
I'm with everyone else on this, just hang a dry sack in an appropriate location and I have yet to have any issues. Planning on switching to the PCT hang next year though. Seems like it would be better than a traditional hang, especially if you're around bears that have become accustomed to people.
Twin, if you are planning on coming up here late May I wouldn't bother bringing snowshoes along. Generally by mid May all of the areas I'm hunting only have patches of snow here and there. If you are looking at trying to get up really high somewhere they might come in handy but I don't tend to...
Like others have said, bringing a handgun along on a rifle antelope hunt is completely redundant and unnecessary weight. That being said, bring it with you. If I understand correctly a large portion of this hunt is just getting your feet wet and figuring out what works for you. That is...
My girlfriend, who is close to the same size, got a MR Metcalf with the womens harness this fall and absolutely loves it. This spring she borrowed my Exo for a backpacking trip with Artemis Sportswomen and although she said it worked fine for her she didn't like the way the shoulder straps fit...
+1 for Akwoodchuck's suggestion of mandatory service. Getting tired of 75% of the beer cans in the back of my truck being ones that I pick up and not ones that I'm putting back there haha.
I'm unfamiliar with the CO laws concerning evidence of sex Poser. What is your objection to it?
I would start near the intersection of Hwy 2 and 93 and branch out from there haha. I've never been out specifically looking for sheds as I get a bigger kick out of chasing turkeys and bears in the spring time, but send me a pm if you have any questions and I can do my best to give you some ideas.
I've always kept my toothbrush and toothpaste in a tree, but never bothered with the chew (except for extra cans I'm bringing). I just always keep my open can in my pocket or in the tent at night. It makes sense to hang it though. I've never had any issues doing this but it may not be the best...
Had the same experience about 15 years ago. Drew an antlerless elk tag in NW Montana and borrowed my dad's Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm Rem Mag. I was 16 at the time and in my infinite wisdom I cleaned the gun a few days before I went out. It was a November hunt and was miserably cold and snowy...
A friend and I hunted northwest Montana 9/11 - 9/17 and only heard 2 distant bugles. The elk we saw were silent. Heading back out 9/22 - 9/24 and hoping things pick up.
