I like my strongfleece 260 but if is a warm piece that does not breathe well, in my experience. I feel the temperature range for the strongfleece 260 is much narrower than these reviewed.
Just my 2cents.
Awesome review @mtwarden very well done.
I was looking forward to the wet test as i had never heard of such a thing before. While not comfortable for you to do X4, it shows a lot. Kudos to you for toughing that out. Frost on the forearms does not sound fun.
As a point of reference, i have...
My story with the alaskan guide is a big bend school trip where my daughter and two friends slept in it and fhere were about 6 dozen other tents ranging from one to three person to family sized tents for the students and all the adult chaperones. One night the valley winds got so bad about a...
Homestly i love my stratus jacket for whitetail hunting. I can easily layer under mine even with a puffy jacket and stay warm, windproof, and stay dry in light precipitation. I would not western hunt with that jacket though, as it doesn’t breathe well. I used my jetstream jacket for that purpose.
Lots of good reviews for all the different digiscoping set ups out there.
In the end, i will most likely be picking up an Ollin sometime in the next year and using it for a season to see how it works for me.
I like the idea of being able to slap the phone on and take it off easily.
I wouldnt call the jetstream or the axis a “shell” jacket. Theu are both jackets with good windblocler and some mild to moderate weather protection, but if it gets nasty they wont keep it out lile the thinderhead. That is a true shell jacket. But it suffers from breathability issues due to...
I prefer the fanatic over the heavyweight, but this is for treestand hunting and not active hunting. I think both would be pretty heavy on an active hunt unless is was used as a solo midweight, but in my mind there are so many other better choices for that. Breathability/mousture movement being...
Too hot for what? I have both the jacket and the hoody. I find the hoody to be near perfect with a light weight base down to about 60 degrees static, or down to about 50 with light active (could get lower depending on how active).
The jacket can go down lower static to about 50 static, and...
I look at it from a ethical shot placement and kinetic energy side. How far can you put said weapon into a vital shot every time? And can that load have enough Ke to knock down an elk sized game (approx 1500 ft lbs is highly recommended most places you look).
So working forward or backward...
Just as a point, i wore (and plan to wear again) my ambient hoody while skiing under a North face shell. It did remarkable keeping me warm and moving moisture. I typically ski and sweat which causes some
Chill on the lifts as i am wet but inactive.
With the ambient, i did not notice this...
The sooner people realize social media is all about “creating some sort of angst” the sooner people will realize its all “made up”.
The clicks come from a combination of sensationalism, anger, controversy, or shock. The algorithm for getting clicks (and this money) os by combining as many of...
I picked up one of the Stone Glacier STOL duffels recently, they are advertised as waterproof though i have yet to test that. Well made, and the 4000 soze fits all my ski clothes and accesory gear and fits perfectly in a carry-on luggage spot on airlines. The back straps make carrying it very...
looking for some real world experience with this day pack. Specifically is this too big for a full day pack, is it too small or laid out poorly, does the “divide” feature work as advertised for optics or rifle holding, have you run a rifle holder separately (kuiu makes one but not sure if it...
Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with the Hubbard brothers at Triple H Hunting based out of Utah? There are multiple triple H outfitters, so finding information outside of their website has been hard and it seems they do not have many reviews on the web.
Looking to do an Elk hunt...
I would agree with most of the above, great piece(s) (i have both) and it would be good if everyone posted their dimensions when talking about fit. I am a normally sized 5’10’ 180-185# 47yo with a size 32 arm in shirts and the large fits me perfect, arms are not too ling and the fit at tue...
