    Spartan Gunsmith Adapter

Did you have any issues hitting the aluminum bedding block that runs into the fore end? I have a gunsmith adapter on one of my rifles right in front of the mag well and it’s great for tripod. Have another rifle with a B&C and have hesitated because I’m not entirely sure what’s inside...

    Reloading scale that doesn’t suck?

I guess I’m just not really into a piece of equipment that over charges a fifth of the time. I load with H4350 and it seems tougher than say H100v due to the larger kernel size. Accuracy, es/as have all been acceptable so far. I have a bench top manual powder dispenser and it’s good to about...

    Reloading scale that doesn’t suck?

No beam scale. Why? Just the way I learned and honestly don’t find it too bad. Can’t say it’s improved accuracy because that’s the only way I’ve ever done it. My loads are mostly at max, so I guess the biggest motivating factor is safety. Have thought about a charge master but for every guy...

    Reloading scale that doesn’t suck?

Is the fx 120i the only one that doesn’t? Trying to upgrade my reloading bench a bit. The scale I have now occasionally drifts, and when trickling up can be unresponsive, then make a significant jump and overshoot the target weight. It’s not the end of the world and I’ve been producing...

    Is brass weight useful?

Weight sorting is a waste of time but 4 grains on a case of that size is a very big variance. Top shelf stuff normally is within about .5 grain. Mid grade brass is typically within 2ish grains. May not make a damn bit of difference but that spread is not normal.

    Lightest reliable pic rings?

Appreciate the compliment. I did paint the stock. Nothing crazy. Just some Home Depot spray paint. Believe it was two colors and laid down a very thin coat of the fine texture paint as well. If I remember correctly I prepped it, then did a coat of khaki, then the texture, then alternated VERY...

    Hornady Match Vs Reloads

Reloading can be enjoyable. Then again, it can be a pain if you are short on time and need to develop loads and get ammo loaded. Main thing I like about it is the (generally) better accuracy and better bullet selection. There’s also something kinda cool about taking game with something you...

    Lightest reliable pic rings?

I’m not home to take a picture of the gun but have a few pictures that might help. Burris two piece bases are bedded to action. They weren’t bedded originally, and I had no issues. I had the gun and bases cerakote so decided to bed them as insurance. Warne mountain tech lows. As I said...

Monos vs. Lead. Which do you choose and why?

I have to shoot monos in Ca, and shoot them out of state as well. They’ve worked well for me but I know they can have shortcomings, just like any other bullet. Overall I’ve been happy with how they’ve worked on game. Nothing weird, no “penciling through”. Everything I’ve shot from deer, elk...

Help choosing ideal chambering/rifle to shoot lead free projectiles.

100% agree. Helpful, and opens up many more options if someone is looking to optimize a cartridge for monos at longer distances. Inside of 400 yards there really isn’t a need for non traditional twist rates. The most devastating mono I’ve loaded is a 110gr ttsx from a 270 at 3350fps...

Help choosing ideal chambering/rifle to shoot lead free projectiles.

Not sure where I contradicted myself. Also not sure where I suggested a heavier mono bullet. I don’t think a heavy for cartridge mono is a good idea at all. A 6.5 creedmoor can work for monos, but if you are starting from scratch it’s not where I’d look. A 6cm, 243, 6.5 PRC, even a 270 is a...

Help choosing ideal chambering/rifle to shoot lead free projectiles.

This site is great but the very predictable, singular focus on barrel twist and heavy bullets gets old. You don’t need fast barrel twist or ultra heavy bullets to shoot 400 yards. The 6.5 creedmoor is a very poor choice of shooting monos. It’s slow, and if you drop weight enough to get your...

    Ruger #1 .270 - Load Suggestions

I’d start with what bullet you want to shoot. If it’s 130gr or less I’d try H4350 first. For 140-150gr I’d go 4831sc. Pretty easy cartridge to load for.

Best twist for 25-06 Tikka build

There are barrel makers who will do them in 1:8 or 1:9 as well if you want a different twist. The 1:7.5 lets you shoot the 134 eldm’s. There aren’t many other bullets that require that kind of twist though.

    Careers

It is, but not as bad as it used to be. There are large number of applicants but about half can’t interview or need to seek out meaningful experience to be competitive. New guys who have their medic card are getting multiple job offers every year. I’m speaking for Ca as that’s where I work...

Primer pocket size after multiple firings

Yes you can. I just did it this morning and got a piece of brass that chambered in all three of my 270’s. Overall case length was a little shorter…2.498 on the necked down 06 brass versus the standard 2.530 for 270. I’m not overly concerned about that. What I need to check is how thick the...

Primer pocket size after multiple firings

I cannot seat one with my thumb. It’s Nosler and Hornady brass with the Nosler being the looser of the two with fewer firings than the hornady. I’ll probably just start with fresh brass. I realize running book max loads shortens brass life but they shoot too well to care.

Primer pocket size after multiple firings

I have two batches of brass that have multiple (3-5) firings on it. The brass looks great in all aspects, zero split necks, still getting consistent neck tension, etc. These are top end 270win loads so shorter brass life is to be expected. My question relates to primer pocket size and what...

ANOTHER Toyota Tundra Discussion… Help please!

Get the 6.5’ bed. I have two young kids and run car seats in the back seat of mine without having to mess with the front seats. Even if you did have to put the seats up, get the longer bed. 5.5’ truck beds shouldn’t even be a thing.
