not sure how they do it- we dropped em off and picked em up.. as posted before mine was by far WAY out of whack..
Seems like most posts are pointing to the scope and/or rings.. i did buy leopold mount rings and used my inch torque wrench with blue loctite.. i dont see the rings moving much ...
FOREVERYONE MAKING WILD A$$ ASSUMPTIONS:
I DID NOT MISS A DEER AT 100 AFTER DIALING IN MY SCOPE. That was when we JUST picked up our rifles shortly before hunting season and did not have enough time to check the scopes and accuracy - we just winged it..
After that we started shooting 20-30...
My goodness. Ok i get it might not make sense but I was reloading as a hobby, we bought our guns RIGHT before seasona nd did not have chance to shoot them, hence why i missed horribly at 100 yards. The guns were sighted at cabellas initially by a very old man with bad eye sight.
After that...
We were just dialing in the scopes is all - we were not going in circles at all or chasing any tails. Groups ended up around 1-2" at 100 yards which is plenty for what we do. The suddenly as I fire off the last 2 rounds for fun at 50 both miss - thats whats freaking me out.
As a beginner...
have no idea how I would confirm the scope otherwise - not sure what you do for a living but im busting my rearend to make ends meet here in LA and filling my landladies pockets with rent each month - so sorry to disappoint but yes, i havent had time in 6 months to do much of anything but grind.
Ill check the mount screws for anything loose - iirc the wifes rifle seems more consistent. maybe i got a dud scope or sth. Was thinking of taking it back to cabellas but the last guy that "sighted" our rifles were off by 20+ clicks on both axis!!!! couldnt believe it.
Scope models are both...
Nope - havent had chance to go back. Too busy trying to make my landlords rent each month. Trying to squeeze one trip in b4 season - missed a beauty of a buck at 100 yards by 4ft or more- couldnt believe it, sth is up and its popping up at the worst times, randomly.. like i said we can do good...
not all scope are rated for magnum rounds - the power can shock the inside bits - thats just what ive been told. the 7 mag are pretty intense compared to a 243 or 270.
i shoot 3 at a time, walk to target and analyze and make micro adjustments.. then switch to wifes rifle - repeat. so maybe 3...
Sorry - my last 2 shots were at 50 AFTER we had sighted 50, 100 and 200- was more just to empty the box, surprisingly I missed BOTH and had no more ammo left.. thats what worries me - is we can pop off 30-40 rounds and do pretty ok, then suddenly 2 will miss at 50! And we tape up holes after...
We have two identical rifles- this incident was with mine. Both me and the wife were shooting pretty consistently through out the day- we pop 3 off, and take a slow walk to the target to analyze, then use the 2nd rifle - so really about 3 shots every 20 mins..
still trying to track wierd results. on about my 3rd reload on these shells, 7mm mag.
im at 58 grains of N160 powder on hornady 150 grain - ive shot about 100 rounds thru both me and the wifes tikka t3 rifles with the vortex scopes that are magnum rated- i loctited and torqued all screws (im an...
Hi - so been having some consitency issues, not sure if its rifle, scope or load related. Can shoot 1/2 groups at 50 yards no prod on a front dead rest.. then all of a sudden 2 shots will miss the target entirely, maybe 2 out of 20-30 rounds. Really wierd! New tikka t3x's - vortex scopes which...
Hi - looking to load less destructive 7mm mag loads for deer to around 400 yards max.. less meat damage - any tips? currently hornady 150 eldx and N160 powder (almost identical to 4831).. this was my first load combo and wondering what I can do to lighten the impact..
thanks
