Your stays are a little shorter than the frame, so that bend is from the difference in frame sheet length and stay length. So when you set it down, the sheet is flexing a little until the stays hit.

The large tube on the left side is supposes to velcro to the strips on the right side, so if they are scratching you than they are not (the velcro) attaching.

We do talk with seal teams, ODA teams and other groups about this.....they all are requesting 500D packs. I can promise you that if there were a good enough market for 1000D, then we would be building more packs out of it.

We sell 40, 500d packs for every one, 1000d.....so making a bunch of 1000d packs probably won't happen at this time.
