    Stratus Bibs

They are very versatile and warmer than they should be. With a light weight bottom layer and Wrangler outdoor pants under the Stratus bibs, I'm good down to the low 30's. They are a little bulky but are nice.

    Always tired? Gaining weight?

Very well could be thyroid. Do not rely on a "normal" PCP that only looks at TSH. You need to also have free T3 (fT3) evaluated. Free T3 should be a minimum of 3.5 for most people to feel well. Hypothyroidism can also drive down T and just as importantly Estradiol. Quick thing you can do now is...

    School me on saddle hunting

Last year was my second year using one. I did use a LWCG .5 as a hybrid platform. 90% of the time I sat in the saddle facing the tree with my knees on the flipped up seat pad. This setup with a back band was very comfortable. Year before I had a tiny angled platform and I was uncomfortable. I...

    Favorite Index Releases

I have a Quickie 1 and love it. I shoot it with back tension and it breaks like a good rifle trigger.

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

I unbelievably, almost no one makes fleece backpacks anymore. I know a western hunter has little use for one, but many whitetail hunters do.

XOP, Novix, and Lone Wolf Treestands

I have the .5 and use it as a hybrid saddle platform or as a normal hang on. I'm 5'-10", 175 lbs and it works for me. I'd maybe buy the .75 if it had been around but no complaints. The single step mini sticks really make a sleek profile as a package.

    Saddle hunters?

It isn't too small but it's as small as one could be IMO. I'm 5'-10", 175, so I'm not a large guy and it's fine. I'm definitely more comfortable in a saddle facing the tree, with a backband. Platform is not big by any means, but for me it is big enough. Only reason I say .75, is using the...

    Saddle hunters?

I use the .5 as a saddle platform and I really like it. Just bought the LWCG 17" mini sticks as well and they work well. Using 3 with a 3 step aider. Light, clean package. I pondered for a year about whether or not to buy the .5 and last year used it every hunt. So far so good. If the .75 was...

    How to slow down?

Definitely agree with Mojave that you need more fat and arthritis absolutely comes from sugar and cabs. Never tried total carnivore diet but may have to.

    How to slow down?

Doc saying numbers are "good" means nothing. Numbers would help. How long are your workouts? Are you trying to failure? How is sleep? Could be over training but what does your programming look like? I'm 54 and train 5 days a week. DL and Squat is around 405 or so, I'm 5-9 175lb. Never come...

    N550 powder experience

Years ago I used in a 308 before I got turned onto Varget. Shot it with 175/178's. Velocity was close to 2700 fps and it shot below moa at 1k. Didn't use it long enough to comment on temp. stability.

    .270 Ammo Question

Bullets can do weird things, even the "best" bullets occasionally can surprise you. If you have normally had good results, I wouldn't let one example sour you.

    Sitka Stratus or Fanatic

I have the Stratus bibs and am cold sitting as you are. Wearing light merino bottoms with Wrangler outdoor pants, I'm am good in low thirties. I have a pair of OR Tradecraft pants I van put under to get me to low twenties for sure. Never used the Fanatic but went with the Status as I felt they...

    The problem with tree saddles

This year I used my saddle with the LWCG .5 as a hybrid platform and loved it. Mostly faced the tree with the seat up and knees against the pad. Hunted some sitting on the seat as well. Loved the options with it and it's barely heavier than a platform and also becomes the pack frame. Very happy...

    Boots

My feet get cold easily. Just sat 6 hours in non insulated Crispi's with Artic Shield covers and a hand warmer, high twenties to low thirties in PA with my dad, no issues.

    Climbing Sticks

I'm considering those or the double steps for next for compactness over weight.
