Bought as part of a lot. In really good shape. I need medium bottoms. Will trade for size medium (32 waste) baselayer bottoms of any brand (preferably medium weight or heavy weight) or prices below:
(2) Sitka core lightweight bottoms XL $50/ea
(1) Sitka core heavyweight bottoms XL $70

I don’t. Always worried about screwing threads up but I guess with the gnarly wood screw threads that’s not really a concern. I’ll cut em at work tomorrow!
Just bought a Browning X bolt HC speed and went to put the Spartan classic rifle adapter on it to use with my bipod, but none of the screws seem to work. The screw that is the correct threads is too long. I can’t get the adapter secure before it stops wanting to be turned. Anyone have any...
Nailed it. Went down there last year and found this to be 100% true. Everyone fishes the same waters, but if your charter address is out of Venice, get ready to pay 30-50% more.
I upgraded from some cheap $150 bushnells to vortex vipers before last season and the difference was serious. The vipers are way better. Don’t have much else to compare them to in that price range, but I’m super pleased with my vipers
Alright, gonna go pick it up next week. My store has both the X-Bolt HC speed and the X-Bolt HC long range in stock for 6.5 PRC. Question to y’all:
Speed has 24” barrel and weighs 6lb/7oz
LR has 26” barrel and weighs 7lb/3oz
What would you recommend? I’m leaning towards the LR. To me, a 26”...
Super impressed with it, and I really like the illuminated center. I haven’t mounted it yet, still have to decide what I’m doing as far as rings go. Holding it in my hands leaning against my truck is pretty unsteady at 15x, but the clarity seems good.
Ended up with the Meopta Optika6 2.5-15x44 with .308 RD reticle. Got it from Camera Land Doug (10/10 recommend them), and it just came in. Off quick inspection and taking it into the yard to look through it….. holy cow. Significant improvement over my Vx-Freedom for just a couple hundred bucks...
So by that logic any of the rem CL, federal power shok, Winchester PP, or hornady interlock in 180gr would be your choice for close shots on deer? I believe those are all cup and core (or at least mechanical “bonding”) over a harder, true bonded soft point i.e. federal fusion or hornady interbond?
What keywords/marketing is used on bullets that describes its characteristics on impact? Is it all construction based? I chose the TA after watching a few ballistics gel tests and it holding together extremely well at muzzle velocity impact speeds. I knew that my shots would be close, velocities...
This, while partially conflicting, is what I'm looking for. The monometals in my mind (probably wrong) require ridiculous speeds to properly expand, which has steered me away from them as I don't see the .308 as a hot cartridge. I have flirted with the 130gr TTSX at an advertised 3100 MV.
