Yeah that makes sense. I think if you were wanting it to look professional you’d probably have to seem rip the zipper from the main fabric and then insert the mesh between them. That may or may not be worth your time to have what you’re looking for

Take this with a grain of salt because I haven’t added mesh to existing openings, but if you have a sewing machine or can even hand stitch I don’t see why it would be too much trouble. I think it just depends on whether or not you care if you’ll be able to see the stitches from the outside. I’m...
Although that’s a good point about holding under load. I may end up doing some reinforcement patches if I feel like the strength factor isn’t there

Oh right, I was thinking of it as its own thing but you’re correct. I have some 500d cordura that I would use, but it’s louder than the thinner nylon ripstop I have so I’ll probably just go with that

Yeah that’s a good idea. I’m not set on the pocket layout yet, but I may end up doing two smaller ones one side for smaller stuff like that and a bigger one on the other for a thermocell, thermos etc

Hopefully it will. My plan was the nylon interior and fleece outer, so no cordura really. Then just webbing, g hooks and some other hardware. I’m really liking the idea of having straps to hold extra layers. I feel like I always have a ton to pack in since I barely wear anything walking in. I’m...
Appreciate your input. I may end up doing that with the inside, but honestly this nylon I have is pretty thin and soft, so I don’t think it’ll make much noise, plus I have a bunch of it just sitting around. Great idea with the foam too. I used that on a larger backpack I made and it works well...
Does any of this really matter that much? No, but it’s fun to me so here it goes. I’m planning on making a fleece backpack with the purpose of it riding on my stand when walking in, or on its own if I’m hunting a pre-set stand.
I’m using this pattern from stitch back gear and customizing it...
Looks like you’re making some solid progress! That black spacer mesh will be great for this. I used it on a backpack I made and really like it. I’m guessing that blue fabric is your waterproof lining material? What fabric did you end up going with for that?

That’s awesome. We weren’t able to make it to Lander on our recent trip out there, but Cody was a really cool area and we liked it a lot too. Casper is still looking like it fits the best for us as of right now.

This is an awesome project and something I haven’t had the guts to do yet. I think doing separate panels is the way to go based on the reasons you gave. If I ever do make one I would probably keep the shoulder straps from my fhf gear chest pack and just sew in clips so that I can attach and...
Great input, thank you. We’re really curious to see what Laramie is like towards the end of our trip. We like the size and are interested to see what affect the school has on the feeling of everything. 37 years is a long time and it sounds like you know the place well. What major changes have...
That’s great to hear thank you. I do like that there’s an airport right there. We’re in Sheridan right now and it feels really similar to a town called Boone back in NC. Obviously it’s summer and there’s a lot of tourists, but it has that mountain recreation/ rich retired feeling so far...
Thanks for your input. Fortunately we’re young and healthy and won’t require much more than routine medical services. Hopefully it will stay that way for a while. Where do you move to after leaving Wyoming?

I won’t lie man, you seem like you’re grasping at whatever you can to get people to not move here. I can’t blame you, but why don’t you just be honest and tell me you don’t want us here instead of reaching for anything you can to dissuade us from coming? Is there a scenario where someone says...
Gotcha, I don’t have as much experience with those places as I do the Wilmington, Boone and Greensboro areas. Yeah my wife and her entire family are from Montana, but I still expect some of the gatekeeping and negativity that seems to come with moving here. It’s all good though. We’re trying to...
