Easy peasy, just standard bolt T3/T3X. My original 6.5cm Tikka T3X is now a 22cm, and I have a 6cm barrel waiting to go on it in about a month once the fall seasons are over. Just a barrel swap between each of them.
You are not wrong, it's a bit strange to need to use an FFL just for bullets and I respect the frustration and maybe choosing not to use them. In my opinion it is worth it if you are choosing to hunt lead-free with reloads in CA.
They rarely have their website stock accurate, always worth...
Since you reload, you're in good shape. 243 factory ammo is lacking in heavy for caliber options. Load the 103eldx or 108eldm.
For California, call up DRT Ammo and order some of their 95g Terminal Shock bullets and load those.
Has anyone killed more animals with these 106s this fall?
Am I correct to to assume the 106tap is basically a "eldx" equivalent to the 109 eldm? They have similar BC, profile, etc and the cross sectioning of the 106 shows the jacket having the eldx's interlock ring.
Yes. 20" 7.5 twist with H1000, Alpha srp, cci450. It provides good case fill and consistently good groups at distance, but not a speed demon (3060fps). 1-1.2moa 10 shot groups at 100.
2016 2.7L 6sp 4x4, 6.5ft bed/topper with 150k miles. Zero issues. Its been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. With the 3.73 gears its quick and tows well, and does 20mpg with LT all terrains.
Cant say if this style is ideal or right for the drill, but at least when shooting off a slope like often occurs when hunting mountains, I've found putting the pack upright under shooting arm to support the butt of the gun to be quite solid. Killed one of my elk last year like this.
That...
At the stated specs, I'd want one on at least two rifles, maybe three. Especially if it says NF/Trijicon/SWFA on it. However if this is to be a S2H/UM product, I will not partake in a pre-sale and it will get a year of 'soak time' in the market before I buy given the Rokstok struggle this year.
I've loaded 5 or so rifles with the 124 hammer, including Tikka 6.5cms. The BC of that bullet generally waterlines at distance using .205-.208 G7 and velocity verified by multiple chronos.
