It’s only been to the range a couple of times, no hard field use yet.
While the Stockys was a little different (the glossy carbon), I just did it the same as I have in the past - never scuffed up my stocks prior to painting and they’ve all held up well.
Wow, that's smoking for sure. I pushed mine to 3700+ with varget, but backed to 3650 as it was grouping best there. Looking forward to using it on coyotes in a few months.
Pic rail for the stock or for your optic? Pretty sure they all come standard with the pic rail for your optic.... I had to add a rail for my stock to mount a bipod. Took 5 min or so to do.
Op - I'm in the Seekins camp as well. Had a PH1 in 6 CM that shot very well. I had another 6 CM custom...
Gotta love the $10 bolt knob and $20 shipping haha. Your post a few weeks back led me down the rabbit hole of searching for bolt knobs for the howa mini. The hollowed out knob definitely seems to make it difficult to find an option for a threaded knob.
The Polished Knob mentioned he...
I'd think it was the wind more than likely. Sounds like a tough shot regardless!
I don't think it was your rangefinder, but if you're questioning and wanting to upgrade, the Revic is a great option. Fast, accurate, and ranges way out there. It's been years since I've used Sig, but I never had...
I think he's trying to stick with the Origin short action....
Will you hunt with this as well? Fun rifle then swap to 25 CM for hunting? 338 Fed would be a thumper and very easy to make brass for. 7 SAUM or 300 SAUM would also work in a SA. ADG released some 300 SAUM a little while ago, so good...
Why is that? Case head separations?
If so, it's from excessive sizing. Belted magnums aren't any different - if sized (and loaded) appropriately, your cases should last a while.
I have a Fat wrench and fix it sticks. I use the fix it sticks WAY more than the fat wrench. Both have their place, but the fix it sticks go with me everywhere.
I'd maybe try a couple of taps with a rubber mallet to see if it opens up. How hard were you trying to cam over to close the bolt?
Did you use gauges when installing the barrel?
For a hunting rifle in 6.5 PRC, it would be very easy to just buy a Tikka and be done with it.
Regarding actions: it's all subjective. Everyone likes to promote what they have or what they have concluded is "best".
