    Dear Tikka….if you’re listening.

They sell 16" 308 tikkas factory threaded here in NZ. I'm sure it's a minimum order thing. Maybe someone could do an order for a run . https://www.reloaders.co.nz/shop/Firearms/Tikka+T3X+RH+Stainless+Steel+Bush+Hunter+2.0+308+16+15x1.html

    Rokslide Special 223 recipe

Hornady data says 2800fps at a max charge of 24.6grains for 5.56 data. Or ADI says a 75JLK is 2900fps at 25grains (compressed) max charge at 223 pressures with 2208 (this is varget ADI produce it for Hodgdon) And show a start load of 22.5grains not being compressed...

22 Creedmoor Custom Build - Do I Send It Back???

My veiw is as above you could risk it trying to have them fix it but t and I don't know a gunsmith that wouldn't understand what the average person is asking for when they say throated for 88s. If they weren't sure it should have been clarified with you. Will it make a difference? Probably not...

Have this issue with the Maven RS1.2. I think increased LOP would solve it.

    The 22 creedmoor thread

I've gone with 18" 7 twist as have a similar issue with barrel suppliers in NZ but I chose a barrel maker that specs .2195 bore and that I have a friend using their barrels in 2 28inch 22-250AIs launching 88s at 3340. He burnt the first barrel out at about 900 rounds and is 400 into the second...

    Spotting your shots

@Formidilosus are you able to get a proper neutral grip on the factory T3X stock with vertical grip? I definitely don't seem to be able to get the meaty part of my thumb that far inboard.

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

OK 100% fixed any feeding issues with reloads and fixed the failure from the bullet points missing the chamber. Compressed the spring as watching it slowly it was apparent the spring pressure was popping the rear of the case up aggressively once clear of the feed lips causing it to jump away...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

The hornady is actually based on the bullets point Mass and is way more accurate. Google "4dof SG gyro" there's a document on all the 4dof terms. But in summary everything with a gyro over 1 is stable. I just make sure the bullets stable at the worst case situation I might hunt in ie sea level...

    Rokslide Special 223 recipe

My quick load from yesterday was Shitty G.F.L brass with off centre flash holes from factory Fiocchi 50 Vmax, 55 SP, and 55 Vmax loads. Quick trim and chamfer (mostly to help feeding) Max book load of 24.5grains ADI 2206H (H4895) 75 ELD M @ 2.425" COAL Gave me 2855FPS out of my 18" barrel and...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

For like $0.05 is there a reason you dont just shoot the 73 or 75 elds and have the option to just use them hunting?

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

Lugs seated correctly. I have 3 mags. A factory metal insert 4 round a factory plastic 4 round and a modified 4 round metal insert. In a factory stock torqued to 65inch lbs. Fails to feed due to the tip hitting below the chamber or the lip of the neck catching the chamber edge. Soft points are...

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

So mostly it seems to be people's mags just fail to have the bolt pickup the round and my problem of the tips missing the chamber and jamming is a bit unique? Put 100 rounds through the 223 this weekend and feedings pretty terrible to be honest with anything other than the long loaded 75 eld...

Am I missing something? How much do environmentals affect trajectory?

Season dependent I'd say anyone hunting earlier season dates could very likely be in the 10k plus realm. I spend September chasing Mule deer last year and seldom dropped under 11k. I picked that sort of country however and was using a muzzleloader. I did however find myself chasing elk in...

    ELD VT 174 grain

Have you tried any ELD VTs yet Form? Hornady claimed that the void from tip to the start of the lead actually ended up hindering minimum expansion velocity. I think they said it was due to the tip collapsing and not tearing open but im suspect of that maybe due to the fact there's not actual...

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

It's completely factory except for a trimmed and threaded barrel. Its torqued to 65inch pounds and I'd say it will fail to feed 50% of the time from the factory 4 round plastic mag if the bolts not worked hastily either because the bullet tip missing the chamber or the neck of the case catching...

    Ultra light hunting rifles

They are better once trimmed to semi flush but my problems were mostly feel and cosmetic for the mag itself except for the one that cracked. My bigger problem is the stupid mag release prone to dropping mags constantly. Feeding it was pretty good better than my tikka 223 but losing a couple mags...

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

Is everyone's no feeding tikkas failing to pickup or not making it to the chamber? Mine definitely doesn't like to feed with a slow worked bolt. My modified mag feeds a little better but I have a huge number of hang ups with the tips missing the chamber or the case neck hanging up on the edge...
