    New Packs from Kifaru 2024

I got my ARK frame after moose season. Which is unfortunate. I would’ve liked to have given the pack a more thorough field test, while packing this years’ bull. So far, I’ve only used the pack on fitness hikes. Generally, 3 times a week. For weight I throw my 70# MTI sand bag (filled w/...

    New Packs from Kifaru 2024

I’ve been using the ARK frame for quite a few months now. Prior to that I’ve always carried a tactical frame. The ARK frame carries loads in the sub 70lb range very well. Well built, very strong and the new foams used in the shoulder straps, lumbar pad and waist belt seem to be a significant...

    Tok Air Service

I’ve hunted with Zack. He’s got a history of legal troubles and conflicts with the many people, organizations and govt’ entities he’s interacted with. Generally, he gets guys into good hunting areas. From my perspective the cons, far outweigh the pros.

    Chronographs

The Garmin works as intended, every time. The Lab Radar is very finicky, when it comes to setup, commonly misses shots and is approximately the size of a highway billboard.

    Spotting scope dilemma

I’d recommend holding off on buying any of the scopes you listed, continue saving, then buy a much higher quality scope, when you can afford it.

    Wading boots for AK float

I’d recommend -Simms Flyweight wading boots: Sized to fit well with a light to mid-weight sock. Do NOT size them to fit a heavy-weight sock ‘for warmth’ -Simms Right Angle Wading Boot Inserts: these really help support your arches, resulting in less foot fatigue. -Leukotape P 1.5” width (BSN...

Trials bike vs dirt bike/TW for hunting.

Another TW’er here. OP - Here’s a link to an ATV rear wheel conversion. Which may be similar to what robtattoo was mentioning. Check it out, along with all of the other TW products. Give BPP a call….he’s a good dude, who’s willing to discuss the pros/cons for all of his TW mod products...

    XLR element on Sirui VA-5

This statement is 100% correct and should not be dismissed. Panning heads don’t allow you to tilt to the left and right…..turning left and right is not the same thing. Try it for yourself. Aside from making adjustments to the lengths of the tripod legs, you won’t be able to get your...

    Diesel heater for wall tent?

https://nuwaystove.com/product/model-4000/ This is a great option. Easy to use. Durable construction. Relatively small and lightweight.

    Wall tent stove overnight burn

You’d be even happier if you used a Nu-Way stove, with a stove pipe, and a 20 pound tank.

    Wall tent stove overnight burn

Four Dog Stoves has a welded titanium version, that weighs ~10 pounds.

    Wall tent stove overnight burn

Yes, the ‘firebox’ gets hot and radiates heat into the tent. No different than your titanium wood stove radiating heat as the wood burns. The water vapor, that results from burning propane, is transported up the stove pipe and into the atmosphere above your tent. Which results in having a warm...

    Wall tent stove overnight burn

I also have a Four Dog stove and absolutely love it, for fly-in hunts, when I can’t bring in propane. You mentioned wall tent in your question. So, I’m assuming you’re not restricted by using aircraft that won’t allow you to transport propane. I know you mentioned not being interested in using...

    Fjallraven or Kuiu?

Fjallraven Keb pants are great. If you’re looking for a lightweight version, to be used in warmer weather, I’d recommend the Abisko Lite Trekking pants. The fit, pockets and reinforced areas, along with the upper thigh vents are the same, for both pants. The primary differences are the G-1000...

    Scope moving in rings

I agree 100% I’ve used Swarovski products for 33 years. Currently I own ATX and BTX eyepieces, 65 and 95 mm objectives, 8x and 12x NL Pures, 15x56 SLC. No doubt I’m an avid user and supporter of their products. However, I believe their riflescopes are comparable in quality to other scope...

    Kifaru frame guidance

Yes. I fluctuate between a 32 and 33 inch waist. The Duplex Small waist belt is listed as fitting 31-34 inch waists. The size Small waist belt allows the padding to just barely cup my iliac crests…..with the 2” webbing part of the belt riding across my stomach. I’ve used a Medium (34-38”) belt...

    Kifaru frame guidance

I’d recommend sizing up to the Small (31 - 34) belt. From my perspective, Kifaru’s Duplex belts fit better with a little more wrap around the iliac crests. Also, the tactical frame is much more comfortable with heavy loads. I’d make your decision based on how often you’ll be carrying loads above...
