That's true, I always forget about the 4-14. The 3-10 SFP is a fine option for folks that want a closer range bomb proof scope, but the 4-14 F1 is a good option.
The MIL-R is regarded by a lot of folks as being sub-optimal for hunting, it gets skinny-ish at lower magnification.
Cliff notes of what you'll find to be the prevailing opinion here (which I also hold)...
Leupold anything (wit a sliver of hope remaining for the new Mk4 HD) is not a good choice from a zero retention and long term durability standpoint. There are some who swear they abuse their Leupold scopes...
OP here, I did end up with the LaRue MBT2. No regrets, definitely a solid upgrade from the PSA/Schmid/etc Nickel Boron enhanced single stage triggers.
Thanks to everyone for their input!
I'm in Bellevue and have a magneto speed you'd be welcome to use. Range 10 minutes from my place you could shoot at if you don't end up with anyone in twin who can loan you one.
I listened to both of these over the last couple of days as well. The conversation/flow of two open minded semi-skeptics interviewing Form was the thing that I think sets these apart from the (also fantastic) Form Friday, S2H podcast, rokslide post format. It's not combative as the forum posts...
I've shot a couple hundred rounds at 47.0 gr H1000, 3050 fps, and I think I'm going to drop another ½ grain (or buy some new brass and re-work)... I've lost a few primers and occasionally still get ejector marks (got some supposedly lightly loaded 2-3x fired Lapua brass already AI formed, and...
That's Tikka's designation.
"S" mags come with rifles chambered in .223 and accommodate about a 2.26 COAL
"M" mags are standard short action, included with rifles chambered in .308, .243, etc. and accommodate a 2.80ish" COAL
"M+" mags come with rifles chambered in 6.5CM and accommodate a...
Pretty sure UM could charge above MSRP for blem's if they were promised to ship out same day. People would bitch and moan and crumble, but there's a bunch that would pay.
Not that UM would ever do this, it just struck me as funny that they probably could.
I switched from MOA to MRAD pretty recently (after last hunting season), and here's my takeaway so far...
1.7 mil at 450 is easier to remember than 5.75 MOA. I have AB ballistic solver in my RF, but if I'm on a different profile it's way easier to shoot with just a range and not a solution. I...
Why is that interesting? Were you referring to someone other than him? It is a pretty straight line to follow back through the series of replies to see that's who you're talking about (started with a direct reply to him saying his opinion is the result of a meth habit).
He's blunt and not...
If you overlay multiple groups do they have a consistent POI?
I'd be looking at free float and bedding/action screws torque, and if there's nothing goofy there I'd be contacting barrel manufacturer.
Agree. A 3 round group tells very little. I've shot more 10 round groups this year than I have ever before and it has really changed the way I view rifle precision. 1.1-1.2 MOA is good. Sub MOA is very good. There's always at least one set of 3 (or sometimes 5) in a 1.2 MOA 10 round group that...
