Thanks for the feedback! I'll look into all three. I too initially went to the Kuiu Pro Harness to get away from magnets (I still really like the harness) but would consider a magnetic closure if it meant easier access. I hate fiddling with the pouch while stalking in close with a bow.
Sorry to bring back such an old thread but any follow up after using these pouches? Or any other recommendations since? Looking for easy and quiet one hand operation led to me to look for a forward opening pouch but there seems to be so few options out there...
How come there is lots of love for the TBAC Ultra 7 and 9 but not much for the 5? Is the shorter length and lighter weight for a hunting setup not enough of a pro compared to the sacrifice in dB and recoil reduction?
When it comes to horseback my biggest concern is pack height. I don’t like a tall pack with large lids and what not. My worry is it could get hung up on overhanging branches. My Kuiu frame rides well and doesn’t seem to bounce off a horse as much as a frameless pack but it’s not a large frame...
Welcome back! I appreciate the transparency with your answers and look forward to seeing the company’s progress as you move to made in the USA. I’d also like to be in for the chance at a complimentary pack!
There's a good Meateater podcast episode that explains the cause of tough meat and if I remember correctly, the guest scientist blamed removing bone too quickly. I think it's called "Red Cutter".
To me the direction the lid opens is the big selling point but I just don't like how far it looks like it sticks out when open. I have a tendency to leave my current harness open when stalking in, this looks like it would flop around or get caught on things.
I'm currently going through the exact same situation. Brand new Carter wise choice that is chewing up d-loops like crazy. I just looked and there is a sharp hairline cut on the release housing itself rather than the silver jaw. I’m worried about trying to polish it myself and being unsuccessful...
I don’t think you’re overthinking it. I’m in the same exact position and have the same worries. I also don’t like that the LHT, which does have a locking system, has a zero stop that goes beyond zero. My plan is to pick one of two based on all other things and just deal with either locking turret.
Overall I was just looking for a slimmer package for horseback. But given the small mounting area combined with a long action I may need to still mount the 44mm so high that it may be worth it to just go up to the 50mm? So I’m still on the fence.
