    New member heading on my first elk hunt this fall

    Shoot your rifle at 400 at least and get it dialed in for everything in between the muzzle and whatever you're comfortable shooting. Practice shooting prone and getting setup for a shot. That will make a big difference if you're successful or not.

    Mt winters are long and dark. Nov-may with no breaks. My in laws from NM tried it and gave up after one winter. You might want to consider that being from a southern state. Fishing kinda sucks here too.

    Mooregold squash are great if anybody is looking for a great winter squash that will keep 6mo easy. Way better tasting than any other winter squash I've tried. Sungold cherry tomatoes are damn tasty.

    Are Crispi Wild Rock Boots waterproof? I have read in numerous places that Crispi boot are water repellent not waterproof. Does anybody's leak?

    I've had a bunch of different brands of high end boots. Crispi are my favorite so far.

    I've never heard or seen any horses being attacked by griz, I have seen a llama get killed a few different times by black bears and griz. It would suck to have your pack animal get killed while on a trip. If we were racing each other to a camp spot I'd be pretty confident betting on the horses...

    I would agree with the concept except when the elk herds precipitously decline the hunters will go elsewhere. Most people, hunters included, don't realize how hard griz hit elk calves.     Docs these days are giving blanket advice in my experience. My wife who's pregnant had her doc say she needs the vaccine. She's 30 fit as can be and already has had covid. The OB knew all this and still recommended pumping the drugs into her and our new child. Common sense has left the country.

    From his videos on here he's a hell of a horse trainer. He sells on Cody horse auction which is high end finished horses. I can tolerate a lot more rowdyness 🤣 I'm sure he earns every cent in those horses.
