Looking to see if there is any gunsmiths in east tennessee that can chop and thread a barrel on a tikka. Looking preferably in north east tennessee or even south east kentucky. Id prefer to not have to ship the gun out.
my actual zero dosent change but my rifle has about a half moa cold bore shift strait down. so anytime i go on a hunt i know my first shot will be dead zero and everything else will be half moa low.
Does anyone have any leads on where to find reloader 26 in east tennessee or even online. has anyone had any luck finding any in the last 6 months? been trying to find some but have been unsuccessful, appreciate any help.
Im really hoping to be at about 3100 but i may have to switch powders to get there. Im not sure h4831sc will be able to do it. May have to switch to h4350
Finall got around to shooting it. Heres shots 15-20 just throwing together a load of 80 grain eldm and 38 grain of 4831sc to get all my brass fire formed. Id say shes a shooter.
I like the 1.5-2 lb range for my hunting guns. I always slam the bolt foward hard and slam the butt of the rifle on the floor to make sure it dosent slam fire.
I just got my headspace gauges i ordered from 4dreamer rentals to check for proper headspace. Gonna be putting together some reloads this weekend and will hopefully be able to shoot it by sunday.
Just finished this guy in 22gt for coyotes/predators on my property. Gonna put a trijicon credo 2.5-15 or a thermal unit for night time fun, still not sure yet.
i wouldnt consider the tikka for a 300 wm because of the short length if you want to shoot heavy high bc bullets. the tikkas are better suited to the saum sized magnum cases.
If you custom order a stock or chose a flat top model you can chose whatever barrel channel you like. This one had a tikka heavy barrel inlet which im assuming is the tikka varmint barrel. Fits my light palma barrel verry well.
Oh i absolutely got lucky with my lead time on the barrel i dont doubt that one bit. I was completely expecting to wait the 4 to 6 weeks but even then, it was still much better than the 10-16 week lead times i had gotten from other companies.
The creed will get you a little higher velocity at the expense of barrel life. Many guys on the face book group are seeing 3-3500 round before pulling barrels. They are using much cooler burning magnum powders 4831sc, rl 26 so throat errosion isnt as bad as the creed.
Yes it is actually available on amazon. It is a 3d printed piece that slides onto the factory knob and tightens in place with a set screw. This is my temp fix until i can find the glades armory swept back handle i want.
Havent been able to get any loads worked up. Ill be back to my reloading equipment in a couple weeks and ill update the thread. Im hoping to be in the 3050 to 3100 range shooting 80grain eldms
