That's a relief to hear, as I'm always concerned that someone is going to get grumpy-pants with these discussions. Glad we are on the same page.
So your in own words: "...basically none of that reloading “procedure” stuff matters for hitting deer vitals at 500 yards" leads me to the question...
Late to the party on this one, but wanted to add a comment.
Horses are dumb for all sorts of reasons. If there's a rodeo, I want to have some gear with me (InReach) in case the horse disappears over the ridge and I need some help. Same with my optics - I'd rather not have my high-dollar binos...
So you said the magic words: "Feel the difference." But does that translate to any functional difference at 500m? Especially if the wind is blowing strong that day?
Please don't get the impression I'm calling you out - I'm not. My life sucks right now in that I'm running a business, dealing...
So hear me out before flipping chairs, but:
Have you tried doing none-of-that?
I'm mostly dumb, but I'm smart enough to tell you know your stuff, and are squared away. To me it would be interesting to see the contrast between all of the things/steps you're doing here, and a "None-of-that"...
This. This is how it's supposed to be done. Full gear, as if you were hunting and spotted something.
Shooting offhand, with the riflestock butted up against your packs shoulder strap is a new experience for some. (LOP changes.)
Having your bino harness smack you in the face as you drop to...

"Well just pay your card off monthly, dummy." 100% correct, as is "Well, don't drink your face off, dummy." However, with addicts, well... The rules are different.
Where Dave gets "Controversial" is when his methods...
@SLDMTN just was on the rokslide podcast talking about the Hobbit Rifle he built for his kids. Might be worth looking at a TC Encore or even a CVA Scout
As a fellow dad, he made 2 comments that stood out:
- these rifles aren't light. Which is good. Cause lightweight rifles recoil a lot. Recoil...
One of my favourite Rokslide threads was the one with the dude who was asking about his buddy's Nightforce scope. Apparently it sucked, wouldn't hold zero, etc.
A guy on the forum here offered to meet Dude. Said bring the scope, and he'd test it out. So Dude and his Buddy drove a long ways to...
I'm late to the party, but:
my bro, you're shooting 700m across a canyon.
That's freaking hard. I'd say you're doing well, considering the circumstances.
Wind calls are tough. Wind calls in mountains... hope you like head games.
That's why binos were invented. Right took for the job etc.
But we all do what we can with what we have at the time. The real question is did you connect on that one?
