This model doesn’t do bullet drop at all. It just corrects the range for shooting up or down at an angle. The Range TA models do what you’re asking about. These don’t take load data.
I got one of these during EuroOptic’s close out and would be willing to pass along for slightly less than I paid if someone wants them. I haven’t unboxed any of the accessories and only looked through the binoculars from my porch and deck. Also I didn’t register with Swarovski.
PM me if interested.
I’m going to call it a win. I now have front and rear epoxy pillars and that .020” gap between magazine and receiver that Nathan Foster tells us will keep a Mauser cycling reliably. (CORRECTION: the gap is for accuracy—maintaining tension on action screws to hold action tightly against the...
I got the barreled action out of the stock. The bottom metal and stock are chilling in the freezer now. I have to be careful with it because the epoxy is still curing…
Now on to the bottom metal bedding/poured pillars. More taping, claying, waxing, and cleaning.
Once again let’s hope and pray I can get this all pulled back apart tomorrow!
That's some beautiful wood! I've done several ebony tips on stocks I modified but have always been too intimidated to try a grip cap. How did you make sure you had the surfaces flat enough to glue it up with no gaps? Did you freehand it with a sanding block? I saw a Larry Potterfield video...
I’ve considered making a vertical slot in the top of the wrist behind the tang down to the back of the grip maybe 1/8” wide and 1/2” deep and epoxying a strip of aluminum in there. You would just see the top edge of that aluminum flush with the top of the grip area.
I think this will be okay. There’s a slight downward bend in grain toward the toe which is great, but more importantly it seems to me that this curly maple is almost like OSB. The grain “waves” on about a 3/8” cycle which I think makes it tougher. If you’ve ever tried to split beech it’s kind of...
Success! After a night on top of the furnace and an hour in the freezer it came apart with a pop.
Now it’s like I’ve got an epoxy chassis with wood attached.
Now to sand down those two bosses formed beside the trigger and the radius behind the tang so those don’t become default recoil lugs…
So let’s get this thing bedded with more leftover pro-bed 2000! Hopefully that stuff has a decent shelf life. I last used this two years ago.
Mask up, dam up…
Plug holes with clay and polish the metal with wax…
Slather in some well mixed epoxy, clamp it all up, clean all the squeezings...
This was definitely a rush job but I have to confess I started this several weeks ago and caught you all up with posts when my daily schedule included some forced idle time. There are tooling marks and scratches all over the stock that I’ll photo after it’s complete to show you all the blemishes...
There are a lot of areas between the Springs and Denver in the Pike National Forest that are closed to target shooting but open to hunting. Here's a list from their web site:
Areas closed to target shooting on the Pike National Forest include:
The area in Manitou Park along highway 67 from...
