    Which action to buy

Is that because of actual superiority or just a slightly more robust aftermarket and all of their experience being on R700 pattern actions up until now? I don't think "all else has failed" though if that means all else being equal. My NF ATACR's lenses were made at LOW in Japan and then I guess...

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

I just put my electronic Send-It level on the rail to check the action is level. Then level to a plumb line.

    Which action to buy

I'm certainly not a Defiance apologist. They genuinely don't cross my mind ever when it comes to possible builds. It was more a remark on the bolt smoothness discussion overall in here. I think some customs have very smooth bolt operation to offer that gives nothing practical up to a Tikka. Lone...

    Which action to buy

That really only speaks to the "smoothness" of the Defiance though. And even then it seems like another poster in this thread feels his AnTi is smoother than his Tikkas so there appears to be no agreement. I guess if the flutes were too deep that could be the case but flutes are not inherently...

    Which action to buy

What is the purpose of the build? Can't really recommend an action without knowing the build's purpose.

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Not that it wasn't obvious in the first place but AB just did a super slow mo of rifle recoil before the bullet leaves the barrel. The recoil was 0.057" before the bullet even exited the barrel (.30-06 Remington NDL with 180gr). It's their way of stressing how important consistent fundamentals...

Vortex Optics - Customer Service Experience

I think I've only had to use Vortex CS once. I've owned Razor 10x50s, Razor Gen I 5-20, Razor Gen 2 4.5-27, two Razor Gen 3 6-36s, both a Gen 1 and 2 PST, an LHT 4.5-22, and a couple of Razor LH's. The CS was used on the PST Gen 1 since out of the box its illumination didn't work. I still have...

    Manners old school cheek piece

Got it. I thought you just wanted an adjustable cheekpiece on a Manners that didn't come with it. Was going to recommend just sending it to the Stock Doc over on SH but if you're building a clone that's off the table. Hope you find it though man.

What is your interest in that one specifically?

Stirring the "oil vs loctite" pot

For guys using blue loctite, wouldn't it help to just not degrease the screws as much and use Loctite 243 instead of 242? The 243 is oil tolerant.

    Cost of ammo?

My strategy is a lot of .22lr out of my trainer rifle.

Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

That's helpful, thank you. Did you find its eyebox and low light performance to be what everyone says they are? After moving from a Vortex G3 6-36 to a NF ATACR 7-35 on my hunting gun the main thing I miss is the Vortex's freakish eyebox.

Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

To add to this, Steiner T6Xi 3-18x56 with MSR2 reticle. I've heard very good things about its eyebox and low light performance. But who knows whether its reticle is too thin for hunting or if it'll retain zero. If it did retain zero well I'd be all over one for hunting.

.223, 6mm, and 6.5 failures on big game

Hornady's website only mentions velocity when it comes to what is required for their ELD-X to perform. Barnes and Berger are the same, only mentioning velocity. Shouldn't they post a different minimum impact velocity for each bullet since the heavier ones have more energy at the same velocities...

.223, 6mm, and 6.5 failures on big game

I thought you two were talking about you questioning the use of .223 on moose. And only one of you has any experience actually doing that. The way you said the moose "took the bullet surprisingly well" made it sound a certain way. I've used Barnes 180gr TSXs out of a 300WM and didn't find it to...

.223, 6mm, and 6.5 failures on big game

These statements seem to contradict each other. Why did this experience teach you a lesson about good bullet penetration instead of a lesson on using a bullet that performs better when it's in the animal?

Rifle Upgrade - Yes, Another 7PRC Thread

I'd be upgrading my other rifles' scopes instead of getting a rifle you won't shoot other than for long range hunting that you're better off just using the rifles you use a lot for. Better scopes, a good tripod you can shoot off of, that sort of thing would probably be better to get if you don't...

Rifle Upgrade - Yes, Another 7PRC Thread

If you just want a 7PRC because you want it, then cool. But really none of that requires it. Sounds like a 6mm Creedmoor would be more up your alley. And it would be more pleasant to build your skills up with too.
