Scope Suggestions: S&B Polar T96 vs. others

Could be that the Magnus has over 22 degrees of FOV which means Swarovski will sue if Leica sells it in the US. I don't know the Leica's FOV but if it's over 22 degrees then Leica won't sell it outside of Europe. Same with Schmidt & Bender, they have a US version of their 6-36x56 that has a...

    Is it all Leopolds

Not everything said about Leupold/Vortex etc is a personal attack on you.

Did a great Drop test on my rifle this past weekend

I mean it fell 15 feet onto its side. Even if the scope was able to pass the Rokslide drop test, I'd expect it to shift from a fall like that.

    Is it all Leopolds

In fairness PRS embraces the fact that it's just an expensive game. The one to do away with the zero range would probably be better suited to NRL Hunter.

    Is it all Leopolds

Because the way the scopes are "crap" is irrelevant to PRS shooters. If their zero gets bumped during travel or whatever it doesn't matter since they're always able to re-zero before the match starts. And then once the match starts unless something goes fairly wrong their scope won't be bumped...

    Is it all Leopolds

They're a Canadian company (Armament Technology) that also makes Tenebraex scope caps and a couple other things. TT scopes came out about 10 years ago and for "glass" they're the best on the planet, specifically their 7-35x56 has no equals from all accounts. Depth of field (parallax forgiveness)...

    Is it all Leopolds

The military sniper worship we have in our country is reminiscent of Soviet WW2 propaganda (coincidentally, a lot of it is also based on lies much like Soviet propaganda). The best long range shooters we have in our country are civilian competition shooters. And the driving force behind...

    Is it all Leopolds

That's really not how things work for the PRS. Certain companies do more to sponsor top shooters than others. Leupold are pretty generous with their sponsorships (same with Vortex). With top ones having free scopes and even some travel/match fees paid for. Whereas Tangent Theta, second on that...

    Is it all Leopolds

Sure but people generally use their vehicles often. Most people with Leupolds are shooting 10 shots a year because that's what most hunters are doing. And most are not good enough shots or attentive enough to notice a zero shift unless it's big. Whereas this thread is in the long range section...

    Is it all Leopolds

Well with any ATACR you wouldn't have issues finding game animals.

    Is it all Leopolds

You can miss without the cause being a zero shift or a mechanical issue with the scope at all. Did he check and see a zero shift, and rule out the base/rings/stock? Or did he just get excited and miss? That's true enough. Plus their reputation for reliability has allowed them to be complacent...

    Is it all Leopolds

I'm not that familiar with Leupold but there appears to be a Mark 4 HD evaluation. You may be referring to a different one though. https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/leupold-mark-4-hd-2-5-10x42mm-field-evaluation.367518/

    Is it all Leopolds

Depending on factors such as scope base, stock bedding, scope rings, etc that's correct. Though usually if those are checked and eliminated we can take some guesses. Like for instance that guy's rifle (if it's a PRS rifle) probably had an integral rail on it so there's one variable accounted...

    Is it all Leopolds

That's not really what people are saying though. They're just saying you have a much higher chance of having issues with any given Leupold than you do something like a NF. Nightforce scopes will still occasionally have issues, just much more rarely. This is a frequency thing and I don't see why...

    Does this action exist?

I think you should just use a DBM with a flush fit mag instead of a BDL. If CRF is important to you I'd guess you want ultimate feeding reliability. Pair that with a DBM since a DBM is a more reliable feeding setup compared to a BDL.

What is "proper cheek weld" I'm getting different advice

Some conventional knowledge on rifle setup/position isn't relevant today (or sometimes was never true). For instance a bladed prone position that a lot of people do is a holdover from before bipods were used for long range shooting. Mount your scope as high as you need to for comfort. There's...

Oregon hunting guide killed by accidental discharge

This is a side note since I think Jewell went out of business anyway but they never had good reputations for field use. They were an accident waiting to happen. Either with what you described or the trigger not functioning if any grit got into them. That's at least the prevailing reputation I...

What to use for cracking, bleeding hands in the field.

If the cracking happens at the cuticle then probably taping the cuticle is my guess.

Oregon hunting guide killed by accidental discharge

I do that first and then drop the buttpad into a hard surface after. Especially since I now use a BnA trigger where you can adjust the bottom sear. And for trigger with non-adjustable sears I still do those tests. I adjust from: won't cock at all -> cocks but running bolt hard causes slamfires...
