Very nice dude! You have a great dependable rifle to start with. So you’re already ahead of the game.
Main thing is getting a good zero.
Then getting good long range validated data that is corrected to your actual impacts at distance.
As far as technique goes, I’d just watch a couple of...
I did not do that. I pulled the battery, put it back in, and then went into the ranging mode and just made sure it was on “near”. After doing this, it would still give the right range and wrong corrections. But I did not cycle through them and test each one.
I will do that though. Still not...
My BLR's do a weird thing now where they range the target, but give me a different calculation for different object along the way.
This is only when objects are near the ranging path.
For example. Target at 700 yards. Range target, readout says 700 yards. Correction given is like 5 MOA. I...
I would go 25 PRC personally. Lapua brass is the big reason. It's also a much easier neck down from .264 instead of .284. It is also plenty of cartridge to push that .25 bullet and the 20% increase in the powder for the 25-7 wouldn't yield a bunch more speed.
I think that 25 PRC is sweet spot...
Thank you for the info! I wasn’t aware of the compatibility so I didn’t want to false advertise. But I know it works on a vesper haha.
Yes the chambered barrel alone was about $900 I think.
I have a standard bolt, and a 22 CM barrel threaded for a SA bat vesper.
The barrel is a muller works #5, 1-8 twist, 24”. Has 150 rounds down it. It shoot 80 ELDM’s extremely well with H4350.
Selling them together to anyone that has a magnum vesper SA and wants an easy swap to a 22 CM...
Curious to know for sure.
I’m not sure how much a 6mm would have helped in your scenario honestly. Sounds like a lot going on besides just the recoil for sure.
That was quite the tough scenario, prior to the gun even going off. You also made two good shots, with wrong data.
I’m absolutely...
Any distinguishable difference in wound on that 1800fps kill at 760 yards compared to ones up around 21-2200+?
I always use 1800 as my theoretical limit, but never killed down at that speed
Badass. And a proofing scope will be involved also I’m assuming? Like drop one, have it pass, and then drop the other, and it is what it is type of thing?
I listened to the whole thing. It was brutal, and I’m not even a small cal proponent. Every point was basically made with a quartering too bull moose or a hard quartering away “big” bull elk and HAVING to take the shot????
I have a well off “influencer” buddy that’s a killing MF and is sponsored by vortex. I just straight up asked him “why do you use that shit if you don’t need the money?”
He was honest. He said he just liked the people that worked there and they treat him like a friend. And once you’re seasoned...
I absolutely think of Jay as a friend as well. Talk to him fairly often. He really is a stand up and honest guy, so I had zero issues sharing my thoughts on his recent story.
I can believe that for sure!
I personally just don't notice it, or am not bothered by it, or something. The first port on the SRS brake is a more perpendicular port, and then the rest are all angled. I think that first port helps mitigate the blast coming back to the shooter by quite a bit...
