Think I follow you on Insta. At 53 I still have not gone, but it's forever on a Short List. I can retire at any time and have cash in hand...so I am closer than ever.
The usual gook. Travel headaches and hang ups for those following behind you. Always a Ballistics nerd. What you use for...
Great bear. I almost hate reading these, as they're generally Dinks posted from an East Coast flatlander shooting 87lb bears in Ontario over bait.
That....is a nice one.
Probably the direction I will head. Even a cheap radial brake would take some of the bite out. Easy to test I would think. Just don't have any 30 cal brakes handy on 1/2-28
I've not contacted the Smith. He's a solid guy. Decades of service.
Was trying to get some insight prior.
I liken that to calling the Breeder if your dog bites someone....
I guess you lost me??? Easy to argue I'm a 1/2 MOA hot....but this isn't the first group or sample set I've struggled with Brake vs No Brake.
The brake is significantly less accurate....and POI is significantly different each attempt. It's repeatably schittty
Also kinda funny the thoughts on barrel length. There are more than a few handfuls of the more respected RS posters who fully endorse barrel chops on "Magnums". Many would have gone 17".
I don't have a 1/2- .308 can. Was never really where I wanted to end up with this rifle. Wanted a short...
To clarify...those groups are fired same day. Brake on and Brake off. It's not a pre and post pruning group test.
I thought similar to a baffle strike inside a can....I don't SEE any internal issues or strikes on the brake.
Had a very notable gunsmith prune a Tikka T3X back to 19" and thread/time a Mini Beast 3 port brake. I didn't dick with the rifle too much before I had the work completed. A few groups and there were no accuracy issues. Thrown together handled was MOAish.
Got the rifle back and have begun...
This is waaaay off topic. And I am generally not too much of a Chicken Little/Sky is Falling dude....but
My very good friend just returned from Glynco, GA. Home of the largest Federal Training Facility for Feds. FLETC.
He said that place is OVERRUN with armed IRS trainees. Running a train...
I also own the Maven 8X30s. I think they're outstanding. Looking for a second unit to gift my wife for her car. I've often thought....if I forgot my full size bins on a trip, I would not be terribly hamstrung if they were all I had.
They do feel substantial. But if you've never handled...
Hey.....there are quite a few Gems on both Load and Re-Load...back off.
Matt isn't more akin to Stevie Nicks singing to Lindsay Buckingham????? :ROFLMAO:
Good post. As Dudes...we are "automatically" all that is Man. A Chainsaw is a great Humble(er). My InstaGram reels are 50% teenage broads with huge jugs....and the other 50% are BuckinBillyRay, TimberJill and random arborists doing amazing things dropping trees.
I've had some semi...
