And yet again, another grizzly shot while charging hunter in Idaho

I have a Glock 20 and several .44 Mag wheel guns as well as a SRH in .454 Casull. I tend to go back and forth. There is no question the .44 mag hits harder, but the Glock holds more rounds. The big question is whether you are likely to get more than a couple of shot opportunities anyway. The...

    Satellite communicators worth the cost?

I have an inReach I bought in 2020, and I am very pleased with it. I would be carrying a GPS receiver anyway, so it does not really add weight. I used it even when deer hunting on the East coast. Plenty of guys get hurt falling out of deer stands. In the mountains out west, it is a no...

And yet again, another grizzly shot while charging hunter in Idaho

This sounds like a sporty encounter. Good outcome. Anybody know the details of what cartridge and load the hunter shot the bear with and where he hit it? I am always interested in information like that as I choose what to carry in the backcountry.

Seeking Best Idaho Fish and Game Attorney

To answer the OP's question, I doubt there is a lawyer who just specializes in dealing with the Idaho Fish and Game department. Most people who have those kinds of issues don't have money to pay legal fees, so it is probably not much of a way to make a living. Next best thing would be to find...

    Enclosed vs Utility Trailer

I am planning to buy an ATV after the first of the year, and I need a trailer for it. I have had several utility trailers over the years, and that is certainly the cheaper and easier option for me. That said, If I were going to drive the ATV out west, I am not sure about leaving it sitting out...

    Idaho Non-Resident Tag Sale

I bought a Panhandle B. I have seen elk there and have friends who have had good success. If I draw in WY, I'll turn it back in.

    Idaho Non-Resident Tag Sale

Well, at least it is fair. If you really want the tag, you can go line up and camp out. Sort of like college basketball tickets.

Anybody know how many people they let in the buy tags at the same time? Is it only one at a time?

Most common field position on big game animals?

For me, sitting by a long shot. It is my favorite shooting position other than using a bench. I will use a bogpod or similar stick setup together with a sling if available.

    Helene destroyed my hunting season

We have a vacation house in Pigeon Forge, and I checked with the agent. Apparently Sevier County was spared. No damage to our house, and their biggest worry is that people can't get up there for planned vacations. I feel horrible for all the folks who have lost their homes and worse.

    Shot groupings

If you are asking about the mechanical accuracy of the rifle/optic/ammo combination, then about 1 MOA is the usual standard. That means shooting off sandbags on a bench on a calm day. In terms of practical accuracy from field positions, I limit myself to ranges and positions where I can shoot...

    Your Elk Hunting Rifle

This is like asking me which is my favorite kid. Not sure about favorite, but in about ten days I'll be heading west with my Gunwerks Magnus chambered in 28 Nosler, wearing a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 and a SilencerCo Scythe Ti.
