    Hunting History with Rinella

I’ve made this comment before, but Steve’s book American Buffalo was so good - it seems that everything he’s done since has been somewhat underwhelming. I’ve also been a critic of the Meateater group and the direction they’ve gone, but I still try to find some redeeming qualities in their...

    Form struck someone’s nerve

I’m not as passionate about this discussion as others, but there are going to be people resistant to change or better ways of doing things in all walks of life. If someone like JVB is so close minded that he can’t look at evidence or data and at least be willing to entertain the idea that...

    American Primeval on Netflix

I heard about this series coming out on Netflix a while ago. Thought some of you may have some interest, too.

    AZFG restricting Crossbows

Dude, tone it down. I’m an archery guy and I don’t think you’re making invalid points, but there are douchebags in any every aspect of hunting.

Rocky Mountain National Park/Dinosaur National Monument...must see points for short visit

If you’re going to be around Kemmerer, there are a few quarries where you can pay to dig for fossils. We haven’t done it, but some friends have and they said they had a blast. They also said it’s pretty much guaranteed that you get something cool and you keep what you find.

    DIY paper tuner?

I use a $18.00 garment rack, a roll of paper, and a few clamps. It works fine.

    5 pin vs Single pin

I agree about the 5 pin sight picture. I’m not telling anyone else what to do, but I think shooting a 5 pin is similar to learning to shoot with both eyes open. I think it just takes a little time for someone who likes a single pin to get comfortable with looking at multiple pins. I’ve never...

    Beginner Snowmobile-Complete noob

I used to really be into sleds and used them for backcountry skiing. The only advice I have is to ride with someone else if you can, because they all seem to break on you at some point, and getting seriously stuck by yourself is miserable. Getting a tow out, or having someone around to help in...

    Rx 8 ultra pressing question

No. I have an RX8 Ultra and an LCA press. I can’t speak to other presses, but you just slide the LCA fingers in closer to accommodate the limb width.

    Yeti Mystery Ranch Rumors

I hear you, and don’t disagree. I was never a fan of Yeti, and I have a few friends who work/worked at Mystery Ranch and they hate it. But, they also have said that working for Mystery Ranch wasn’t the same after Dana left and his kid became more involved. Also, I listened to a podcast with...

Tell me why I shouldn't move to wyoming...

This discussion reminds of scenes from westerns and mountain man movies where there’s a guy about to embark on a journey west, and others are warning him about the perils he’s about to face. Sometimes the guy in the movies and his family end up in ruin, and sometimes they prosper. The only...

    2025 Mathew’s Bows

For you guys who have been shooting Mathews for a while, how have the strings been on bows recently? Still junk, or has Mathews improved them?

    2025 Mathew’s Bows

I shot a 33 Lift X at 70 pounds at 31”, at 85% left-off and I was impressed. I keep hearing that the draw cycle on the bow is stiff at the beginning, and has a more pronounced dump into the valley, but I didn’t notice that. The draw felt very smooth and linear to me. I’ve been shooting Hoyt...

    Wilderness Hunting Reciprocity. Good idea?

And… for every constitutional lawyer and aspiring politician on this site, the video posted should also serve as a lesson as to why WY will not only not change their law, but also dig their heels in on issues like this and push back even harder. There are soooo many posts on this site from...

Looking for a Wyoming resident hunting partner

That, or just stop replying to the comments he makes until he stops posting. Interacting with someone like this is the equivalent of stopping to engage with some raving lunatic who’s talking gibberish to himself on a street corner.

Looking for a Wyoming resident hunting partner

I remember this. Occasionally, there are posts made by people on this site that are just so ridiculous that they standout even among other numerous dimwitted posts. That’s saying something. The guy’s perspective on western hunting and lands isn’t even relevant, and he’s incapable of...

    2025 Hoyt’s

I’m a long draw guy, and I’ve owned the RX7 Ultra, RX8 Ultra, and may order a RX9 Ultra. The cam on the RX9 Ultra that I shot was a little stiffer at the beginning of the draw than my RX8 Ultra - but i didn’t feel it was significant. There is no dump into the valley, and the draw cycle is still...

Harvesting Fur and Feathers for Tying Flies

Hungarian partridge skins for soft hackles, and pheasant tails, skins, capes. Turkey (biots, tails, and marabou). Mallard feathers (flank and CDC). I only hunted upland birds with my dogs, and I would skin out my birds and use borax as a curing agent. I’d sell some skins to a local shop...
