I used Will Watson at evolved munitions and he did an amazing job. He was also reasonably priced, responsive and it didn’t take him forever. Highly recommend!
I have a 7mm Rem Mag Magnus and it’s a nice rifle. I have several other rifles that are more accurate but it holds the 1/2 moa standard and I’ve killed lots of animals with it in the 6-800 range. I think one of the selling points with Gunwerks is customer service. I’ve called them up several...
I have both the 2.5-10x32 and 42 versions on lightweight big caliber rifles and the only scope I like better is a March 3-24. The March is a little more money but a used one if you can find it will set you back about the same as a new 2.5-10.
One of my March scopes has been around the world...
I used the SG merino all fall and it’s really good stuff. I find it more comfortable than the Kuiu line and it was definitely tougher than the few pieces of First Lite I’ve worn. I highly recommend it.
Really hoping that this becomes beneficial by injecting some additional working capital and letting them expand the brand the way Kurt and his team see fit. Could be a great thing if that’s the case.
My fear is they scale production to stock more in retail stores and quality/customer service...
I’ve hunted Dagestan Tur just across the mountain in Russia and mid-Asian ibex in Kyrgyzstan and I shot both with a 6.5 PRC. I felt like it was plenty gun provided you hit them well. You’re guides will be yelling shoot even if you don’t have a good shot so take your time and you’ll be fine. Low...
Just read through all the comments and thought I’d post a quick review since I was one of the suckers who bought this jacket. I had a Marco Polo hunt in Kyrgyzstan in early November and the temps there are crazy and you’re not moving a lot since horses do most of the work.
I ended up pairing...
I’m using the BTX/115mm setup with the outdoorsmans fluid head and balance rail and thus far it’s been a phenomenal combo for me. A little pricey but you get what you pay for In my opinion.
It was definately a different experience from what I’ve been told the November hunts are like. We hunted up around 13k to 14k so it was still cold and some snow up high. I think earlier is better in some ways because the long trip from Bishkek to the hunting area was less painful due to weather...
I traveled to Kyrgyzstan in August of 2018 for an ibex hunt. It was one heck of an adventure. Very well organized. Booked my hunt with Profihunt and couldn’t have been happier.
Not the same exact scenario but I did a desert hunt in Mexico in February and I crossed into Mexico via car and back into the US and they didn’t say a word to me whatsoever about having a negative test. It was super easy. It was always my understanding that the test applied to air travel.
Do you have a ball park budget? First thing that comes to mind is the Outdoorsmans pan head. I’ve used it for years in a lot of environments and it seems pretty bombproof. It’s definitely out of line with the cost of the VA-5 though.
I have both and every time I look at those two calibers I’m looking at lighter rifles that I don’t necessarily “intend” to shoot at distance. Taking distance out of the equation I don’t see why you’d limit yourself to a caliber with less components available. Especially the way ammo, powder, etc...
Seems I’m joining everyone else in upgrading to the new NL Pure. In compliance with my wife’s rule that new purchases be subsidized by the sale of current gear, I’m looking to move these.
I purchased these brand new from Sportsmans Warehouse in July of 2014 and they’ve been babied ever since...
