If the 8.5 twist shoots the bullet well your not wasting it no matter what weight. Choose the construction you like and try different weights and brands. I killed a cow elk this year with my 300wm 1 in 8 twist with a 165 gr ttsx. She didnt ask what I shot her with.
I shot 2 does last year with the same weight accutips out of my 20ga at the same distance. Both hit directly in the heart. 1st doe ran 80 yards and sprayed blood like crazy. The 2nd doe ran 30 yards without a drop. Lesson learned? Sample size of 1 doesnt tell the whole story. If you feel like...
I feel better hunting sleeping in my own bed at night. I enjoy hunting more when I am staying out and really immersed in the experience. I do both when I can and enjoy both ways.
If you dont really need the rangefinder you may be better served getting regular binos. Better glass for much less money. Even non hunters enjoy nice binos. Only hunters and golfers enjoy rangefinders
