I used to shoot rifles with iron sights pretty well in 3 gun matches. As ive gotten older my eyes cant seem to focus on the sights and the target at the same time quickly. If I had the cask I would buy the Schmidt Bender referenced above. I would like to have the bigger objective like 40 or 50mm...
Haven't sheep hunted with it but I use a hatch bipod lately. It sets up well on uneven terrain. Nice and tall to get over things in the site line. Like others have said a bipod makes a great kickstand when setting your rifle on the ground. Get one that attaches/detaches quickly if you want to...
LPVO with an illuminated red dot in the center of the reticle. Pretty much the same as a red dot on 1x. Can still crank it up when needed. Many manufactures do something like this so pick your flavor. Mine is a vortex pst 1-6 and has worked well.
Synthetic against my skin feels can feel cold in the winter. I think they work better in the summer, and merino for the colder months. My zip off 3/4 length are my go to.
Ive grown fond of liner socks no matter what temp. I feel like my feet get less hot spots since it minimizes friction. Thin liners on warm days, thick liners in the cold. If your moving a lot you may be better off with an uninslated boot. I wear uninsulated for most of the year and just adjust...
Bought new from Midway USA in 2021 for $1300. Mounted on a X Bolt 308 for about 200 rds. I have not performed a "rokslide drop test" but it has held zero fine for trips to the range and hunting at my house. CDS-ZL2 cap cut for federal 150 gr partition + uncut cap included. Also allen wrench for...
That guy was special. But I honestly feel a majority of people are good at heart. Bad apples get most of the attention so we act defensive to others expecting the worst. There are threads all over with the gun writer I wont name, but this type of story doesnt get shared enough. Thanks for...
I use a 1-6 vortex pst on my 220. It has a an illuminated red dot that is great in low light. Im not shooting that gun over 150 yards so 6x on the high power is more than enough. I really like 1x or 1 1/2 x on those short shots. Helps me keep my target in the scope after the shot.
Early morning and late afternoon prime time I get in the zone and tune into the woods. I fight mid day boredom with a kindle. Easier on the eyes than a phone, quieter and harder to lose your page than a book. Dont have to read non stop, just break up the time. I only hunt when the wind is right...
The friday before black friday I found Mountain Archery liquidating all their Sitka. Got the incinerator bibs for $334. 2x so I can load up on turkey and pie this week 😋
As suggested try shooting it. If it doesnt shoot right I think you may need regular rings on a pic rail. I honestly dont think high rings will get you back much farther. If you're fiesty you could cut as much off of the front rail as possible but leave all mounting screws intact.
Since you already have a spotter you probably wouldn't get much use out of a set of higher power binos. The girls my appreciate the smaller 8x32s in their hands. That size is also great for the glove compartment of your vehicle in the offcseason.
