Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

I ordered the Thlete Zodiac pant after all, we'll see how they do. I have heavy carhart type pants for heavy brush but its not uncommon for me to put on 10 miles a day chasing turkeys for example - those type pants get pretty uncomfortable after a few miles. Also many times I'll go into a area...

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

Well after all this I think these new pants from Thlete maybe are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm sure 99% of guys on here have never heard of them as they mainly gear towards the WT guy. I have a pair of their heavier pants and they are awesome. The zodiac pant is toray fabric like KUIU...

    Black Hills Turkey w/ Kid

The exact opposite can also be true, early in the season they are more flocked up and can be really tough to call away from hens. Why would a tom want to leave a hen to find a hen? Later in the season they are much more spread out, and the Toms are often solo looking for a hen and way more...

    Small gauge turkey

H&R Pardner 20 ga compact. Its $150, made overseas but its a 870 clone essentially. Had one for three years, killed 8 birds with it thus far. Buying another one this spring.

    Black Hills Turkey w/ Kid

I'd say go as late as you can to avoid potential blizzards. That said, last two years I have gone out there I was rained out, weather was absolutely awful both years. In 2020 I went May 13-15Th(was supposed to be a week). I made it 2.5 days, it was 45 degrees and never stopped raining aside from...

Remi Warren no longer hosting Cutting The Distance

But its LIMITED EDITION from a tree that they cut down themselves!!!! I'm sure it was expensive to make given all the transport they had to do from the wood. I'm sure it will sell out even at $300 a crack.

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

Good to know. I shed hunt in Iowa as well, the southern part of the state will tear you up with those hooked thorn bushes-- you need to back out of if you get into them. I just read about the fit of the Sawbucks being weird too. I think I'll just do the Kutanas and see how it goes

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

I kinda forgot about the Sawbucks. Those are the same price as the Kutanas, I wonder if I should lean that way for addtl durability? I just cant believe a nylon upland pant would be that durable but I guess the nylon chap on those must be pretty rugged?

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

I've read some reviews of the Kutanas, sounds like they are the best option available. Wish I knew someone around here that had a pair to get their take on it. My Corrugates were pretty much trash after 2 months of turkey hunting....I mean usable but no kidding probably 75 pulled threads and...

    The dumbest sh!t hunters say...

You KILL an animal and HARVEST the meat, although I still dont know any one that says 'come over and help me harvest the meat off this deer'. For the groups I run with for the past 40 some years all say 'shot' . 'I shot a nice 6 pt this morning, can you come help me butcher it?'

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

I guess I'll probably just have to buy a pair of Kutanas and see how they do. The marketing on so many of these lightweight nylon/poly pants drives me nuts, ' armored tank', 'bulletproof', 'takes a beating and comes back for more'. lol unless you walk thru a small patch of brush, then they will...

Best pant option for brush/briars/thorns in early season??

I'm trying to find a more durable pant for running around after turkeys in the spring in WI, SD, WY and hunting in those same main areas for deer/elk in the Fall. I have owned FL Corrugate(not the Foundry) and Pnuma Tenacity pants(pretty similar to FL, 4 way stretch nylon) and they both have...
