    One rifle ?

I’m on the floor. Unfortunately for me, I just lost a bet to myself, that I’d not see the “Taylor ko” farce cited in-earnest post-GW Bush administration. But here we are. Best of luck with those Leupolds and their unimpeachable (but oft cited) warranty.

AR 15 AR 10 w/ Thermal caliber recomendations

223/5.56 with the correct bullets will not leave you wanting for more “knockdown;” especially on a coyote, of all things.

    One rifle ?

Anything in your proposed price range will likely be a downgrade from the T3x. And there’s no reason to increase recoil. Modern bullets perform better than those of yesteryear and allow shooters to do more with less recoil, increasing precision. A model 70 and 180gr partition will work. So will...

    I recently sold my .30-06

You need a handy 223/5.56 with 1:8” twist or better (faster). They sell themselves if given a shot, and I mean that quite literally.

What to do with a WSM?

So you’ll probably be shopping for a new bolt, barrel, and magazine box & follower. I.e., neither cost effective, nor close to it.

What to do with a WSM?

Relevant excerpt for southern Michigan: “A .35 caliber or larger rifle loaded with straight-walled cartridges with a minimum case length of 1.16 inches and a maximum case length of 1.80 inches.” So for Michigan, at least, you need to take the above parameters and also narrow it to fit your WSM...

    I Drank The Form Kool-Aid.

Yup. As in, you’re not without the ogive below the case mouth. Think AR mag confines. The 75 hpbt, 73 eld, and the 77 TMKs (designed for AR mag confines) will be fine in Tikka factory mags @ AR mag coal. 75 eld and amax will be no joy.

Whats your ultimate backcountry hunting bow

Hard to imagine a tougher bow, a bow less prone to twists and failure, than a fiberglass & maple or bamboo cored American semi-longbow. You’re not twisting one of those limbs. But, you’re also looking at at least 66”, and there’s no perfect takedown mechanism for ASLs. If it’s going to be a...

    Wanting lightweight rifle/scope combo opinions

Tikka T3x, Barrett Fieldcraft, or Kimber Montana. Montana has the best factory stock in the game. 6CM, 6.5CM, 7mm-08, or 308. Stocks are plenty stiff. Quality projectiles abound; especially for a handloader. Research impact velocities. Confirm dope. Mount a quality, reliable optic and confirm as...

    Tikka 308 increase velocity options?

You will not increase the rifle’s effective range by an appreciable measure with a longer throat. What is your current velocity and what velocity are you looking to achieve? What is your minimum impact velocity with your chosen bullet?

    AR trigger advice

Geissele SSA or SSA-E. CMC 2 stage. The latter being the flat iteration, and I do enjoy it.

    Will it work for me

You’d have to pay me to hunt whitetail (or anything else) with that scope and rifle; and even then, it’d have to be a sizable sum. Unnecessary recoil and muzzle blast. Unreliable scope - wax eloquent on neither the “glass” nor the “quality” of its warranty. You will not practice with it. Simply...

New 280 AI build with Alamo Precision Rifles

Wild to hamstring yourself with 1/3 of a foot of too much barrel, plus a brake, and not enough rpm for the good bullets, among other details, but to each their own.

Building a Shorty - now what to chamber it in?

Lots of shots in the dark and guesses. I don’t think it needs to be that hard and/or uncertain. This is a math question and a ballistic calculator is going to take out the guessing. 1. Pick a bullet (sounds like copper mono of some type). 2. Choose the maximum distance at which this rifle will...
